Some good arguements and worth reading. The craving for a sacrifice and the need for a virgin and even a resurrection can be argued both ways. The reason I would give for those subjects to have been talked about and mentioned in history and across cultural boundraies is because they speak to man's heart shaped vacuum and the sense of sin and darkness, and the hope for a savior is intrinsic within our nature.

To be or not to be... If there is not god. It would be necessary to invent one. This article has a lot of truth wrapped into its thoughts. There are many books that were left out of the bible. The book of Enoch is one of them. Who and what am I in the scope of all that be? Questions like this live in the minds of many of us. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I have one for you to consider. Which came first, the universe or the word?
We are until we are not. Suppositions are the reasons we question a lot. We suppose, we question. We question the supposition of the question. Too many, Too few, too much that is never known and will never be shown. The only question that really matters is the question of the questioning... John

If you consider the possibility that when you leave this plane of consciousness you take your own universe with you to the next plane, being conscious starts to make sense. John..

I liked what you've written and can tell you've put a lot of thinking into it. Now my two-cents worth.

I'm of no religion of mankind, yet, I've read the Bible, the Koran and the Nag Hammadi which has previously been released for quite a while and what you say has a ring of truth in it that can't be disputed, except for how one translates such books as the bible, the Koran and so forth covering all the religions of mankind.

Our Government is no better than any religion, yet there is a God and it's not Jesus or Mohammed or of anything of this world. Yet his truth touches all books. Just depends on how one translates words and which truth one chooses to cling to.

Example; Jesus said, "If you don't gather then you are not of me." Many believe the world will gather to Jesus and so on and so on, but in truth, religions separate and divide along with catagorize, condemn and judge all who don't fit in with others around them.

Hypocrisy runs rampant throughout this world in its entirety in all things.

Thus the similtude of Jesus being crucified is a perfect example of what happens to those who don't conform to this world and it's teachings, depending on where or what country one is raised in.

Yet, I've found a truth from within that won't be taught in any church, and that is, this world is a manufacturing plant for mortal souls.

Yet, very few mortal souls become immortal souls. Thus we have many walking dead/hollow shells in all societies that cling to this world and all of scholarly men's teachings and interpretations blindly.

How sad. For there are those of us, and we are few, who do think for ourselves. We can laugh at all things within this world, as we know this world is nothing when one finds pure truth. A truth that only comes from within but also comforts as we calmly watch the world pass us by and slowly destroy itself.

By the time religions learn that this world is Hell, and whether one believes in a God or not doesn't matter. Evil will prosper until it divides and destroys itself and that is what we see happening at this time, from both sides of the track.

I find it facinating how intelligent men really aren't intelligent, when it comes to spirituality not tied to this world. If it's not part of this world, then it doesn't exist, that is the thinking of many who love this world and all that's upon it.

1 Corinthians, 3; 18. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

19. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.

For anyone who don't believe in any God, all scriptures mean nothing to them at all no matter how you try to present it to them. This is well worth a six if there ever was an essay to rate a six on.

Hope I haven't offended you, but I believe truth deserves truth. As we have many truths to believe in, my truth comes from within and includes not this world, but renounces it and all things about it.

Yet in many worldly eyes, I would be considered a fool. Not to bad of a place to be in when the world is run by those who are the most fooled of all who believe they have real power, but are to blind and ignorant to know their power is hollow, except for what they can force upon others who are afraid to think for themselves.

God bless and it was a nice read.

Wow. Now that was one hell of a read. Well done, my friend.

I couldn't agree more that these things need to be discussed, and I can't for the life of me understand why people are so against it. It seems it's a North American thing, to not delve into these discussions.

Like you say, it is crucial. I've always thought the same. You'll hit a lot of resistance on this site, but keep doing what you're doing.

Looking forward to your next post.

Mmmmm... You're welcome? Lol. I think this may be a copy and paste response, though. Unfortunate.

The reply is not intended to be boilerplate. I carefully read all comments. Not all are reproduced. If a message applies to more than one review, I copy, not to save time, but because the review elicits the same response from me. Sorry if it offends. John...

No, it doesn't offend. It just didn't really relate to anything I'd said, so I was a bit confused.

Though I disagree with much you have written here, you have written a well thought out and erudite. You do not explain why every society in the world has some idea of God. It seems to be a drive in us as strong as the desire to eat. Even though atheist claim not to have a religion, many cling to science as their religion. And my Truth is more important to me than what you say is truth on PBS etc. Just because an argument or position is presented with finesse that does not necessarily make it True.
Some of your facts are wrong, i.e. that Constantine compiled the Bible. When you don't have your facts right it is hard to take the rest of your post seriously. And the game has always been afoot.

    John,

It makes me sad that you are an atheist.

I am not. I see God wherever I look

That is so interesting, because your essay would lead me to believe that God is a four letter word. Perhaps you're playing the devils advocate?

Godliness is a good thing. Much better than religion per se.

A great write. We do avoid talking about what is most important and do meaningless small talk for the most part. We are afraid of serious debate. I would capitalize Bible--if for no other reason, it is the name of a book. Thank you for this well written, though-tprovoking piece~Debbie

Descartes is reputed to have said; "Je pense donc je suis."
But when it came to the crunch he opted for a belief in God because he couldn't prove or dispute it either way. Let us plough on. Your details are fascinating but I think you are carrying logical positivism to an exaggerated degree. No matter, your final paragraph is very up beat. To be able to hold a thought and contemplate is profound but I don't see how thoughts, which are a part of the dead past can create the future. Of course we try to project them into the future and discover whatever we want to discover.I agree we need to seek out, our raison d'etre." -Ekim777
