Your poem is really well-written Curt with excellent rhythm and rhyme! Forgotten thoughts (particularly hurts) do like to resurface and try to linger if given the chance.
In the last line of your first stanza, perhaps
"what seem (like) dreams to some ...." etc.
There is excellent imagery and use of metaphors throughout this excellent piece!

There is so much truth in this well-crafted poem. It's amazing when we allow thoughts to roam unbridled through our minds, especially the not so good ones and believe they are fleeting. Often, they are not! I'm glad you touched on this subject, because I realized a long time ago that if you don't put bad thoughts to rest when they surface they will come back to haunt you at the most inopportune time. Thanks for sharing a very pertinent piece, I enjoyed reading it!

This is a wonderfully crafted poem. A very poignant story told about some extreme memories. 'wounds that sit on shelves in broken jars'. Goodness what imagery! Throughout the poem you have used these visuals with brlliant effect.The poem flows so smoothly.
