Your poem is well done. Its so cool because when I read your poem, it sounded like words froma Eminem song and when I got to the bottom, I see you have posted an Eminem song

I enjoyed this poem. The human will can triumph in any situation. When your back is against the wall as they say, that's when you know you have to fight harder and stronger, not just to survive but as you say, to thrive. So many people "wing it" through life, fighting off adversaries the whole time, hopefully like Gerald, in the end, they succeed. Good read.

I like this even though I'm still unsure of who Gerald Rames is...Eminem's real name? A character from Ayn Rand? No matter good poem. Keep writing these gems.

Gerald Rames...is any one of us with the guts to go after what they want -smile- no...I believe his name is Marshall Ayn Rand? I should know her right? thank you dear love Michael

I don't know if your pulling my leg or not. You might not know who Ayn Rand is. She wrote "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountainhead." She developed this type of economic philosophy that was all about consumerism run a muck. I forget what it was called, but whereas a lot people life becomes fulfilling in service of others, she said life is only fulfilling if your out for number one.:0)

Well...I dont think I like that saying at all. No..I've never read her...what happened to her? I mean why does she think that way?
reply by eowyn0003 on 14-Jan-2013
I'm not sure why she thought the way she did. She was kind of strange woman. Maybe she was too smart for her own good.

Hmm kinda like King Soloman huh?
reply by eowyn0003 on 15-Jan-2013
Probably more like King Saul...King Solomon prayed for the wisdom to rule the people in justice. It was only after he became addicted to woman (600 wives and 300 concubines) that he got weird. But with all of that estrogen running through the kingdom...well you know what I mean.LOL

Your use of the music video was well played (pun intended), and put a different visual on the concept. It may have taken away from your work just a bit, however it gave me great insight as to where your inspiration came from. Keep up the good work.

Why do we take a flying leap into the unmentionable side of life? Perhaps God allows it so that he can stretch out His hand to us and see if we reciprocate.

I especially like these lines:

"forged a friendship with impossible"

"but because he thrived"

And I wonder, who is the "I" who watched form a distance?

Bless you, Anita

A very good poem. I like to read about history. I have a half sister who write all of her poems with a historical background. It is interesting. I like your style of writing, also. florrie

Dude you are like such a different person than when I first met you. This poem is evidence of that. That what if...and Wonderment... That is the key. Ask questions and you will find the answers. The problem is that you might not like the answers. Think about that. God tells it like it is. God is so close to me now. I can feel Him. He is in my dreams. Flying like an angel. I think I just wrote a poem. Who the hell cares anyway?-Gary
