vivid descriptive detail of setting
delightful use of personification of the monkeys
I love the message that even though the speaker is no fan of cold winter, the monkeys still enchant her :-) Brooke

beautiful poem about nature and i also like the imagery
i also like how it feels like you telling a story
he says his name is Jasper
a winter monkey sitting in snow
a red cardinal pecks at birdseed
the furry critter introduces
his wife, Jasmine, she nods
a smile comes to my face
maybe I am the Jane Goodall
of New England, interacting
with a troop of snow monkeys
occupying a lawn of white drifts

I think the funny little fellow - I think they're native to Sapparo, in the Northern region, as I hear they like the natural hot springs there (because these monkeys have class!) - would be a fine sight to see and would certainly brighten my day if I saw them ambling on my snowed over lawn.
Very lovely.

Jasper and Jasmine. Very cute. Love the reference to Jane Goodall. Your enjambment brings a nice flow to this poem.
daffodils sleep below the feet
and tails of wayward relatives
far from their native home
Awesome word choices, my friend.

Very imaginative. We've had some snow, too, but imagining the show monkeys is a clever way to deal with that accumulation. Cute to introduce the wife, Jasmine. Conjuring the snow monkeys was a good way to beat the depressing winter cold, and the idea seemed to have you thinking of spring and daffodils. Glad you enjoyed the visit with the snow monkeys. Enjoyed the thought of being the Jane Goodall of New England. That's a great picture. Have a great New Year. judi

A beautiful thought in this wonderfully written poem about winter, monkeys, cardinals, daffodils. Those are lovely thoughts and sights written in nice free verse that flows like drifting snow. Spring will come, cozy up to a nice fire in a comforter and sip some hot cocoa.

I learn so much reading your poem. Had no idea it snowed in Japan and the monkeys played in the snow. I thought it was warm year round.

a woman who dislikes the cold
the cardinal sings as nature
brings fluffy monkeys to a
woman longing for spring.
And boy what a fine imagination you have to girl. Did you actually find them in your yard? LOL I know but I had fun too!!
