Oh you and I must have the same mirror. :) I love the imagery. My son is six foot tall also. When I look at the mirror, I see a grandmother of a 9 month little girl, but I have to smile because my mother was never my age. :) Great poem, Shirley

very humorus, I have started to sag I think. or my son is growing taller. I use to be 5'6" and at my last md appointment they got me at 5'5" ibelieve. that can't bee. oh well. maybe I will grow some more. later.

I think there's always humor to be found somewhere, even if it can be somewhat cynical ... but also humor acts as a wonderful counterpoint to the "real" story, yes? thank you so much for reading & enjoying my dear - and Happy 2013!

No doubt for me this is so worthy of a six rating. You have given us another of your well crafted poems.
This delightful poem, which incidentally flows so well when read aloud, gives pause for thought. I had not realized how like my own dear mother I have become, till on a recent visit back home to Wales, when one of my cousins said. "OMG you sound just like your mother."
I think most daughters would, (or should be flattered, I was)at suggestions in this great poem.
Here are my favorite lines:

dreamy
exquisitely creamy
bites
of
delight
Because as we get older, that is exactly what we do.

I like the contentment this piece conveys, that while age is showing in the mirror, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. There is achievement in attaining the peace you've drawn from this station in life. I wish you the best of luck in this contest.
