the shops and courts have all closed

The end of the work day. Time to rejoice. Time to whack the night away. To be with loved once over dinner, to chat, to argue and to hugs. Such joy when the sun goes down. If the sun goes down on the wrong side of life, we can also lament, complain and yet wake up the next morning - too busy to think of our problems until the sun goes down, LOL. Cheers. Ritchie.

Your rhyming couplets are awesome.
Oh, the peaceful ending of day in
the city. Quiet and still one can
almost hear God speak. The art is
so well suited to the words of this
splendid tanka.

Life's rat races end chiefly at death, when man ceases eternally from his earthly pursuit. And each night too offers him a light rest from his weariness, though many a soul still--either in their bed or out of it--labour on in some sort of business.
Splendid write.

as the sun goes down - ah, the end of a day feels great, because then we can look forward to a new day tomorrow with the possibility of anything happening.

say goodbye to the rat race
it puts a smile on your face- I get so exhausted sometimes; it's nice to just sit back and relax.

I enjoyed this poem, as that is exactly how I feel every time I walk out of my office! A simple central image, beautifully conveyed. Well written.
