This is great. It made me laugh out loud. What a neat idea, and how neatly expressed! Too many people use these tight Japanese poetic forms to try to seem portentous, but you've used its terseness for a far nobler purpose - to provoke laughter.

Before I read the Author Notes I put 2 meanings to the poem depending on the way the words are spoken. Softly and tenderly as it is a welcome thing he has done, or sarcastically (as you intended) to show disdain.
Either way it is well written and stuck to the senryu rules.
