Sad and troubled times. Lonely too. With God's help, life can get on the right track again. Unity and commitment is best. But some of us, don't have a choice - others just force their decisions on us. CG

This is an interesting piece. It's interesting how a piece like this can tug at your heart unexpectedly (as yours did). Good work and good luck.

I am so glad you mentioned the heart tugging, Mai Mai. That, to me, is what poetry is about. You couldn't have told me anything that would have pleased me more, so thank you very much!

I admired your exploration of divorce by taking on this persona. Your rhymes add to the intensity of the feelings. The title and artwork you chose echo your theme well. -Joan

Thank you so much Joan. I'm glad you liked this, even though it wasn't exactly personal. I often put myself in other people's shoes and enjoy "playing a role."

The story of divorce is always a sad one, and many couples part when kind word, an understanding, a simple explanation would have saved the union. However, many people marry in haste mistaking passion for love, and some marry too young and then grow up into someone else.
Good work in understanding the pain that goes with separation.

I think any kind of wrenching separation can be incredibly painful. When someone you thought loved you decides to leave, it is especially difficult, but there is always hope for tomorrow. Thank you for reading this with your understanding heart. Hugs, MM

Thanks Brooke. I guess this could apply to many circumstances besides divorce, but losing someone we loved is never easy. Your comments are, as always, most encouraging.

You've described the pain and sorrow and the peace that follows very well. It is somewhat like being a caged but cherished bird...and then being set free.

This journey can take months and years to make it to that place of glorious liberty...a soul can soar the heavens on the wings of forgiveness of the loss.

Thanks for sharing this!
Blessings to you!
Marsha

You've said something in your review that I think is of extreme importance, and that is forgiveness. Without that, I doubt an aching heart can truly heal. I believe in clinging to what is good, and letting the bad memories die. Thanks so much for this understanding read. MM

This work has reached the exceptional level

We promised love and devotion
that would last for eternity
But lost it 'neath an ocean
of heated arguments
Me trying to be me
and you remaining you
Never becoming the us
we were destined to be

Very well done, Buck

Ah Buck... your reviews are always special to me. You have written a wonderful little philosophical poem here, and I (as usual) truly enjoyed reading it. Thank you for the six-star rating. That is pretty nice too. Hugs, MM

It is apparent that you truly don't know what its like to be divorced. Your author note indicated this fact and by what you have written, I dare say that you have some inkling, but are missing some of the components of a divorce. I have been divorced a few times and its perhaps liberating in some respects, but its always a defeat of the worst kind.

Let me explain, being divorced could be likened to your house burning down to the ground. Yes, you don't have the immediate worries of maintaining the house and all of its chores, but in retrospect, the chore were worth everything. Its the glue that held your house together. So liberty from a spouse is far from ideal. Its never liberating being broken from the one whom you loved so dearly at one time.

with that said, your poetry was well written and gave insight for majority.

You are absolutely right, Steve. I could not possibly know what it actually feels like to be divorced, or to be jealous, or to be victimized, or lots of other things that I choose to write about and have never experienced. I have had an unusually blessed life, so I can only experience these emotions through my imagination, and if I missed the mark on this one, I apologize. It is not the same for everyone, I'm sure. My daughter would not feel as you do, but thank you so much for your vivid analogy of the house burning to the ground. That was certainly a great way to describe the loss and devastation. I think my lines about liberty would only apply to a few people, but I could imagine myself feeling that way if I'd been "hobbled" by my marriage. Anyway, I can't let lack of experience keep me from attempting to write, any more than an actor could only play roles he'd experienced in life. That's too limiting. I very much appreciate your comments and input. You have opened my eyes even wider. Many thanks... MM

I wanted to apologize, as I was not very polite in my reply. I thought better of my words when you returned with a most gracious response. You're a kind person ... I can tell.

    have a pleasant evening/day
