I'll have to say I did so enjoy reading this
scary tale of you and friends on a river rapid
adventure. I am glad you survived and I would
hope you learned a lesson. In your notes you
did say one should respect the power of a river.
Wouldn't want to get slammed against a boulder
like the one in the picture, for sure!

Bravissimo! This is fantastic, word choice is flawless. I enjoyed that bit about the ladies on the landing. Exhilarating ride, thank you very much and best luck to you in the contest.

Even though this is blank verse, you have succeeded in in corporating a long, steady rhythm, very reminiscent of the surge and flow of powerful waters.
A most enjoyable poem, full of heart-pounding incidents, vivid imagery, and humour.
Thank you for sharing your experiences via this poem, and good luck in the contest.

An enlightening writeup. I loved the poem. The lines flowed so beautifully and the words painted an extremely vivid descriptive picture. You made us travel through the rapids...

I love the visual ride and emotional thrust of this poem. It reminds me of one you did of skiing that was equally riveting in its recollection of the heart-pounding adventure.

The exhileration spews from the page. You manage to bring back to life what must have been a thrilling ride. I have never heard of a gage? Did you mean gauge? Forgive my ignorance if not.I maybe an islander, but I never paddle out :)
Great read
Kind regards Trimple

You are right, I'll fix that. Thanks.

I love the picture. I love the poem. You are a man who escaped Hell's Gate. Rapid riding is a dangerous sport. But it makes you feel good when the job gets done. Great work.

What a great story in a poem. It must have been alittle scary. I like the flow the picture is perfect. I like the fact that you take your own pictures. I could just imagine getting on the canoe reading the sign but doing it anyway.Well done. Deorre:)
