Okie I think I do not know enough to re-paint this picture you have created with wonderful words. So I will only say that my enjoyment was pure. And you have inspired me To keep trying the Acrostic Poem which I love but am terrible at.

Hello Cyn93 and welcome to FanStory. I joined this amazing group last May, and I have learned so much. You will find that by both trying and reading other works, you will pick it up quickly, I'm sure. Thank you for taking the time to read and review my work. I am glad you enjoyed the words, I spend a great deal of thought on them and your enjoyment is now mine too.--Wendy

What a great explanation of poetry. Your lines are marvelous explaining each nuance and "The teasing, taunting phrases call
In tints and hues of unrefined." They all come together with the palette consisting of the poets words.

Ok, so I will review this one too before heading back. It was inspired by the local artist's guild, (about 150 paintbrushes strong) asking to paint to my poems. Not illustrate them, but read and reflect then paint. This is their winter assignment and will have a showing in May sometime. I was struck by the thought of their painting my words and made the leap to the similarities. I am glad you enjoyed it. Now back to yours--Wendy

Simply beautiful; I rarely come across an acrostic I don't feel isn't forced in some way, but your piece flowed flawlessly and was a delight to read. Great use of imagery, and a message which I empathize with sincerely - that poetry is life, and the words we use (paint) are guided by our experiences (brush) in order to form scenes with which we all can relate.

Thank you so much for taking time with my words and for the thoughtful review. I am so pleased when someone shares with me what they take away from a poem, because they then become part of the history of the work. You are spot on with your understanding of my paint and brush. I am an unrepentant rhymer and very strict in my metering. I have spent a lot of time trying all the new forms I am learning here and now I am attempting to bend them to my style of writing. It seems I have had a bit of success here. I am humbled by the gift of the sixth star--Wendy

I enjoyed your poem enormously. I even had to think twice about the meaning of some words..(English not my mother's tongue). Very eclectic. The Da Vinci next to the Picasso art work, not less intriguing.

Hello again. For someone who's native tongue is not English, I love that you find my poems and artwork eclectic and intriguing. Aren't words wonderful? I am humbled by your gift of the sixth star. Thank you again for taking time away from your own words to read and review mine--Wendy

Painting with words is exactly what you've done! I love "harsh consonance". The whole melds perfectly into a single statement. Gestalt achieved!

Thank you Mike. I am an unrepentant rhymer and I am having a fabulous time with these forms I have discovered here, trying to fit my style into their structure and rules. Not always a roaring success, but maybe I got it right here. You seem to think so and I value your opinion. --Wendy

Poets can paint pictures with words. Art on the other hand as inspirational as it can be, do not lift the spirit as good writing does."Gestalt achieved, the pieces bind", my favotite line. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you Margie for the thoughtful review of my poem. I happen to agree about the painted art, but there are probably those who only perceive with the eye and cannot decode the written word who might disagree. The local artist's guild, about 150 paintbrushes strong, is painting to my poetry for their winter assignment. Best of both worlds I guess. It will be interesting to see the results. I have no input, and they are not really illustrating them, just painting to the "feel" of them is what I hear. Still very flattering. I really appreciate your good wishes for the contest and the extra star. ;-))

Congrats on another deserved recent contest win, Wendy.

You are one of the top rhyme/meter poets on site, IMHO, and your skills, including imaginate word choices are evident again her in a far superior acrostic to the norm I read.

Best wishes, Ray

Thank you Ray. I really am having fun learning all these forms. Almost ready to try a sonnet! Your praise is very special because you know how much I am in awe of your talent. I think of you and your little Henry all the time as I bounce my Grandson on my lap-and grab him from the top of the couch, and sweep up lamp pieces . . .

Thanks for your wonderful reply, Wendy.

I can't wait til Henry is a little bigger so I don't have to treat him like a complete defenceless sparrow.

Hey, I am in 'awe' of your writing too!

Well done! I was very impressed by the way you could use free verse to perfectly convey the artwork Picasso created. His out of the box method is reflected in the way you created the imagery here, but still within the confines of an acrostic.

This 'painting' of the acrostic PAINTING WITH WORDS seems to use many poetic devices in its representation of the master work of poetry. Nice.
