This is a glorious poem. For some children Christmas is all about Santa and presents. Others know it has a deeper meaning. My daughter loves the whole process of Santa, tree decorating and gift giving, but I've also tried to teach her the true meaning of Christmas each year, and I know this poem will delight her. Well done :-)

That is such a good idea, Angela. Another friend of mine said that what they do is write everyones name on a slip of paper and put them in a jug, then each person takes one out and that is the person they buy the present for. I'm afraid in so many households the true meaning of Christmas is lost and that is so sad, it is all about, what am I going to get. The aabb rhyme is solid and the flow is rhythmic and meticulous. The story is one to behold and beautifully presented. Loved the illustration, loved the color palette, loved everything about Sad Santa including that he is now happy of course.

That is so nice!! I have a fairy garden as well, I am still in my childhood, even though I'm a Grandma!! I am over the moon that your little girl liked it so much, and that she is taking it to school. I have just had my first book published, children's stories, and I was invited to read in several schools, and what a joy that was. Personally I don't like religious/spiritual poetry. I was really getting into this poem until the talk about Jesus, Mary and Joseph came up. But that's my personal taste, so I'm not going to ding you for that.
Besides the religious aspects, this was a cute poem. Great atmosphere of childhood in the voice and word choice, especially the rhyme flow. I'm not even Christian and it made me feel a little nostalgic.

Right, now I understand, I have to say, I am a bit like that. I do have my own thoughts on what religion should be like, and it isn't the churches ideas. I'm afraid they have not been that brilliant in sending the right messages out and I'm afraid there are too many people being murdered in the name of religion. I am sorry if I offended you by my remark, that wasn't my intention.
