Your poem is in excellent 5/7/5 form, Kamran
I like the alliteration in what/without
and in recognition/respect
and you convey a most meaningful message

Wise words you've constructed in your 5/7/5 .It could even be a proverb one day! One of my pet subjects is self-respect along with self-discipline... seems to be what our young people lack in many instances. Giddy

Powerful concepts: recognition and self-respect. If you have to gain one quality to lose another, than you are being false to yourself. Grest use of alliteration in this small poetic form.

Very wise words my friend...a six star effort in my book. That is not an easy feat when writing the shorties. This shows much depth, and cause for thought. Very much enjoyed.

One definitely cannot bestow recognition upon someone with any sense of integrity if there is not respect for that individual. Great insight into this one. I enjoyed this one!

Aloha Ameen, I was thinking that the photo is of a palm tree after a bad storm. It lost all identity and self respect without it's fronds. Aloha, Ginger Hawaiian Mermaid

This is extremely clever and profound, Kamran.
Indeed, too many will do anything to get noticed or for acclaim, neglecting their values or morals (if they had any in the first place) in the process.
Very powerful comment in word economy.
Best wishes, Ray

A wonderful write Ameen in which self respect is given its due. One cannot possibly have any recognition worth its while if one has no self respect. Bravo.
