Hi Mystery Author,
And the answer is "yes". In my teenage years, back in the 60's, I had numerous occasions to leave my body. It was invigorating, to say the least. I used to float to the ceiling like I was in a bubble. I would even bounce off the ceiling sometimes. I'd wait for it... I could feel it. It was crazy. As I grew older, it happened less and less frequently. And now, at 62, it's only happened once in the last ten years.
There was one time in my early 20's when I actually floated right out my bedroom window! Now, does that sound weird or what? Voices warned me how dangerous this was, and in a flash I was back in bed... wide awake and a bit scared!
So I know exactly where you're coming from as I read your poem. Very familiar!
I like the ending,
"Shhhh ... not a sound
we leave you now, but

you'll know

when it's time

to come

Home"
Nicely penned!
Good Luck in the contest.

It's happened to me just once, when I was 17 Kimbob, and I've always remembered it - but hasn't happened again, much as I would like it to. So you're LUCKY! I'm so glad you resonated with my piece - thank you so much!

Beautiful piece. I think of it more as in utero than dreams but that's just my take on your very beautiful words of childlike wonder. "Soon, you won't remember us but we will wait for you ...What a beautiful promise.

thx Diane ... it's more the concept - the age can vary ... my son was about 4 when he said to my husband that he "remembered" where he came from before he was "here, in this world" ... but now he was "beginning to forget". So many mysteries!

to infinite midnight blue
our soul-stars streaking
to the dark side of the moon
and beyond the edgeless universe
to end of time itself

Fine fine writing in free verse format. You take us as far s we are willing to go.

A delightful poetic work on the nonphysical self experienced in childhood--the age of innocence. The artwork goes very well with the theme of this work. I especially liked these lines: "while you can still remember us, leave your body ... drift and dream". Enjoyed!

I've never seen God but I did feel his arms around me once. It was weird and kind of creepy. LOL. Loved your little poem. Great job

Thank you so much my dear - have you ever written about that experience? I'm intrigued by different peoples' personal experiences with "God" - so many mysteries, yes?
