And so one who believes he has fallen short of the perfection he believes God expects of him, he turns to the Devil for acceptance. A frightening image skillfully painted. :) nancy

Well, i do not know if i am even good enough to review this really. you have blown my mind. you set the mood with that unbelievably gothic photo, choose red and black to continue the gloom, and in a weird way sensuality also (no I am not weird, just really love creepy stuff). your piece is so brilliantly done from beginning to end. it convey gloom, sadness, desperation, and finally defeat at the hands of death. i will not even dissect or analyze each powerful line, but i believe i have understood it all. it is intelligently written and packed with many brilliant thoughts, feelings. great job, wish had six stars, or Stephen king's email address to forward.

I really like your style. I find a lot of poetry on here to be light, spiritual, etc., which I am not saying is bad, but I can only take it in small doses. Yours, on the darker side, is more to me what poetry should be. Reflections of things that people don't really want to see. Very well crafted, well thought out, and well written.

Another great write. I don't know why, but I didn't have the same experience of flow that I had before. Perhaps it was intentional. Always a powerful and worthy write. Thank.

Standing, drenched in the cloak of darkness, you are a beacon of mistrust. sounds like blasphemy at the pulpit my friend, like puppets to society we all are, well done!

good consonance of hard C sounds in cloak of darkness/beacon
calling
good alliteration in fallen this far
Good sensory appeal in shrills of laughter as well as consonance of L sounds
Many good phrases to create a dark mood like crimson tears, beacon of mistrust, epitome of self loathing

Well now this certainly captures the dark side of life and death. It is well written and easy to follow, just hope it is only a vision and not reality.

Rather on the dark side, but I like that kind of poetry. The poem read almost as if it were a story and now I want another chapter, although you do end it quite final. I liked your imagery, "shrills of laughter are heard above the cries of those who were not worthy." Liked this line. In keeping with the dark mood you used dark words that really made the poem more daunting. The picture was the seller! ~Katherine

This is truly haunting and shattering. I can feel the crumbling soul of the individual. The picture is beautiful and holds my gaze and i could almost hear the cold and calculating laughter....
