I loved the story. It held my attention from start till finish. Good balance between dialogue and narrative. The woman was right with sensing there was something wrong with the tree. Her husband will have to live on knowing his uncle was a murderer. Liked how the tree burned down at the end.

That was a great read, Beth Shelby and there is no need for any editing. Your build-up of atmosphere was well done and the short, jerky sentences in the dialogue added to the effect. I wonder what the others in the writing group did with the photo. Dorothy Joyce

This is a very interesting story. I enjoyed the mystery and the suspense. The feeling of the supernatural stems from the lady in the tree and is exacerbated by the wife. I like the fact that the tree is destroyed, but I wondered if the remains were destroyed, too. Perhaps you could make that a little clearer.Good story , well done!

Thank you Susan, I don't know anything about the picture but you may be right about the photoshopping. It is hard to believe it is for real. I'm probably going to make some changes in the story. I'd ended it and people liked it but thought it was too short. I really appreciate your support.

There was a movie that was made with this same story line in it. I seen it over the summer. This was well written if not very original. But still very good, as I'll bet there wasn't very many that have seen that movie... John

Thank you for the review John, I didn't see the movie. I've heard there is nothing new under the sun and I think it is hard to be original. I'm just trying to weave some kind of mystery around the picture.

Thank you for the review. I think your advice is good and I plan to take it. You're one of the first three to read it and you are all telling me to make it longer. I agree. The tree shouldn't be cut down. I will continue the story.
