I wanted more the story to continue...that is my only complaint..lol.

Great concept, character development, plot, issue and resolve.

I enjoyed it greatly!

I see how you were inspired by the photo is it real or photoshopped. There's a tree in my garden that looks like it has a face and freaks me out all the more now thanks to your story. Love a good scare story without to much blood or guts. Nicely portrayed .

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I laughed about your face in the tree but maybe it is not so funny. Don't go digging around the roots. LOL

It seems a little obvious and linear to me, without enough development of the wife's supposed talent, or anything in the way of a twist.

The wife should have gotten a stronger, more clear impession the closer they got to the tree and the grave. It might have been better if it turned out to be NOT associated with anything the uncle did, somehow; perhaps a far older crime or injustice, or something that he had no control over.

As it is, there is no mystery, no depth to pull one further in. A richer description of the woods and house might help, but in the end it is the STORY behind it all that is lacking.

I have to thank you for reading and I'm very thankful your rating doesn't count on FanStory. I got so many six star reviews that it would have hurt anyway. I'm sorry it fell flat for you. The idea on this site are to try to look for things you do like as well as those you don't.

To me it looks like a woman in agony. I sure hope it's not a real tree, but I can see how it would inspire you to write such a beautifully detailed story, very descriptive and eerie. I probably shouldn't have read it before going to bed!

Wow! Doubled wow! That's unbelievable! I mean I believe it it's just have me lost for words. That's something, and I think that should be told like you said, may be a book are is it already a book? This is very scary, and you were right she wanted rest and closure. Thank you for sharing this with the site. God Bless!

Thank you for a really great review and for the beautiful six stars. No it isn't in a book. It's just something I came up with after seeing the picture our writing group gave us for inspiration. I really enjoyed reading your comments.

A very spooky story indeed, and one well told. Your dialogue writing is very good and you have a nice balance of dialogue and narrative. The picture is amazing.

Very well told story! You set up the concept well, doled out information at just the right pace, and deftly worked with Jon's inner thoughts to show the progression of the story.

The ending was slightly predictable with the tree being destroyed now that the dead woman had closure, but it wasn't a detraction from the story. Merely an observation.

Thank you so much for the review and the nice ocmments. You're probably right about the ending although it wasn't planned. I just threw that in as an afterthought. In the beginning the story was much shorter and everyone kept telling me it needed to be longer.

I like your story, the picture is amazing but sort of creepy as well, very for a fast moving story. The dialog works very well. Women have great intuition.

Hey, that is really inspired writing. The atmosphere is tense and uncertain until things really start to move. I like the short staccato sentences, driving me on to read more. Just couldn't resist. What a great story !
