Very neat and clever to bring your characters into this arena.
Reggie the Rat is a good candidate because he is always curious and investigating things, so his situation is vey believable.
Because many children will know him already they will take note of the problem and how it might affect him.
Good rhyme and rhythm as usual.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much, Andrea! Poor Reggie, I'm not kind to him, am I? Bless him, he just always has to do these silly things. Thank you for the good luck, don't think I will get anywhere, but the contest was fun. Sandra. xsx

Nice story line. Like the characters helping each other although in real life one would be food for the other. You need a villian and of course we humnans are the polluters. I think children would get the point.

Thank you for your lovely review, mauial! I like it when you can change fact to fiction, in stories and poetry, everyone is friends in my stories, Lol, that´s how it should be all the time in the perfect world! Thanks again. Sandra.

I love the picture. I love the poem. Those plastic rings that hold soda bottles together hurt all creatures. Be it on land or water. Great work.

aw, thank you so much Tammy, for the review and the lovely words. How old is Evan? Perhaps I can bring him into one of my stories. I know my grandchildren love seeing their names in the stories and it encourages them to read more! This Granny knows these things, Lol. Thank you for your best wishes, too. Sandra. xsx

On the whole this is a delightful story to capture the hearts and minds of the children. I don't know whether it is just me, but I feel the flow is hampered by some extraneous words. Common Meter with a consistent tempo and flow is easiest for children both remember and recite. Consider revising.

Otherwise excellent work. Chris. :-)

Thank you, Chris for your lovely and advisory review. I most certainly will look at it again. I will be lengthening it after the contest to go with my other learning poems, in the Hedgerow series. So it must be spot on!! Thank you again, most especially for your thoughts. Sandra. xsx

A wonderful teaching poem for kids and adults alike.

So much pollution, waste of resources and abuse of the environment. So many captive large mammals: elephants, primates, dolphins and whales; as intelligent or more so than humans, they mourn their dead, have close family units and can recognize themselves in a mirror.

Nicely done.

Thank you so much, Julie, for this wonderful review. If people could just stop and think what they are doing to our planet and to all the wild life, I would like to think they might actually do something to reverse the damage. Do you think that might be wishful thinking on my part? Don't know! xsx Sandra.

This is a well written poem with a moral for the young and old. Don't pollute and protect the environment. Good luck in your contest.

Delightful! I haven't read one of your children's poems in awhile so it was nice to see this. I think that poetry is a great way to get messages across to kids. The rhythm and rhymes help them to learn. This is a great poem for kids! Good write!

Dear Sandra,
Great rhythm and rhyme enough to attract any kid. Strong eco message also and I hope it does some good. One suggestion, for cadence you might consider "cigar" instead of "cigarette", although it is not vital.
Best regards
Reg

What a great little rhyme about the dangers of littering and the effect on wildlife. The rhyming was perfect, and the story flowed well, nothing seemed forced - just lovely.
Best of luck in the contest, Sandra :)

Regards, Barb
