Peace, Love and Happiness... or is it sex, drugs, and rock n roll? lol Both mottos of bygone times that brought about the change of a nation within a single generation!!

Very fun and it seems spontaneous work. For sure I read it a couple of times, good for the soul!!! My fave lines " wear them in my hair, so yeah
Beatles? sure, I play 'em
hero's still John Lennon." Oh, yeah!

thx amada - this indeed was a very spontaneous write! I'd originally done it for the prompt, and then re-read the prompt and saw it was meant to be funny. Oops! So I kept it to release later. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and you've picked some of my fave lines too!

Very "groovy" poem! I love the before and after theme of the hippie. Great flow to this piece and your wording really gave a voice to the aged hippie. Great job!

This has got the beat, visionary, and congratulations on your win. I like the way you handled then and now. Your first portion really describes the flower children. I remember seeing them in Harvard Square. It was quite a time--all about love and flower power and the beads. The older version has a few more cares, a family, need for money, etc. The adult realization is that love really isn't free. I enjoyed the beat in this and the use of words used by the Flower Children. Great work. judiverse

Hi, visionary. You're welcome, and I do remember those flower children and the crowds protesting the VietNam War. judiverse

What a hoot. I was immediately transported back to the glorious sixties. Back to the days when we knew everything that was important to us. When we didn't need anything but time to enjoy. Love and the energy to make it were in abundance, no wrinkles, no sprinkles adorned our perfect, youthful skins. Damn I miss those days. Thank you for the visit back in time though it was but for a short few minutes, it was enjoyable.

A well deserved win here, I absolutely love this and the memories it refers back to. Plus everyone loves the Beatles - a national treasure for us! Well written, joyfully proclaimed to us. Brilliant.

Some real fun and dated phrases here, Sharyn.

Their 'seeds' still grow veggie (+ marijuana. maybe, LOL), but no kids.

Even clothes (a bra) required nowadays to fight aging's gravity.

Some great words: 'Raise the bar/burn your bra, peace signs, rainbows galore, flower power jeans etc, then...BANG! '45 years later' and reflective fun.

Clever ending with the Beatles' 'yeah yreah yeah'

Great entertainment.

Best wishes, Ray

Another one of your poems that lets me know that so much is possible. That there are no real limitations to writing. This was such an exciting poem. The way you ended it was perfect. Great job and congratulations on the win.

Congratulations on winning the contest! I went back to the 60's which I was too young to remember for a moment. I still have my long hair and listen to John Lennon. Nice read!-Gary
