I think the temperture is a bit overplayed. I have yet to feel it, usually when an energy is near, I get a feeling up my spine. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words.

Hollwood has sent so much falsoe information about possessions and evil spirits, it has virtually been accepted as the truth. Enjoying your story. Charlie

OMG - spooky scary stuff, and why am I reading it at night, I don't know.

Exceptional chapter my friend, it scared the living daylights out of me. I was on the edge of my seat thinking do I keep reading or stop. You know me and scary stuff....but I couldn't stop reading and your cliff hanger was fabulous....spooky but fabulous.

Excellent imagery and scene play, my heart pounding tells me so:D

Overall an exceptional write. It won't let me give you a sixer this time around. Virtual one with a hug:D
Thanks for scaring me, I mean sharing with me.

Hi, Maureen. Thank you so much for your generous and lovely review. I sure appreciate that you chose to read the story even though it scared you. Though I don't like the idea of scaring someone so sweet! I very much appreciate the virtual six, too. You're so kind! Hugs, Bev

Great one, Bev, had me on the edge of my seat.

Loved the dog, as you can imagine, and the interaction with the priest.

Only thing I saw, you and I. s/b you and me. Tht's all I saw.

Really loved this one, m'dear.

Hugs,
Gayle

suggestions:...From his seat near the fire, /it's>its/ warmth dulled the edges of Brian's anxiety. (it's=it is-its=have,own)
...There's no one in here but you and /I>me/.

Whoa!!! What a hook!

Ooo, this is getting really spooky! Sorry, some things really bring out the kid in me, and this sure does! I LOVE a good, scary story! Your characters are so real, and the storyline so good, I'm going to be sleeping with the lights on some nights as I follow this I'll bet! (Even your priest's dog is authentic!) More, more. (May I have an advance on the next chapter please? LOL)

Ooh, you do? We lived in a very haunted house, which led to my current interest as a paranormal investigator. I'm sure my granny would be proud. Xxx Bev

This is but another great segment in this work. I know that you had stated apprehension, previously, that the infusion of a supernatural element in this story would not be well-received, but I hope by now you have dispelled that erroneous notion. To the contrary, the Adversary, or what may be an agent of the Adversary, fits very well with the tone of the story and the cast of characters. To say that it has a high CREEP factor is the proverbial understatement of the day, perhaps the month. I particularly liked the way that this shrouded figure is now inserting his presence where he pleases, with no regard for the consequences. It is an ever-so-subtle way of adding menace and evil to his already foreboding characterization. Your characters are all splendid and finely drawn, but it is this monster that brings the hackles to a full stance. I will definitely be back for more of the Malevoleent One.

Fine writing here, my friend.
Salud!
Wes

Great descriptive chapter. I loved the interaction between the dog and the priest, and you've done an excellent job of mixing emotions and a bit of hair-raising chill. Great work

This is really spooky, and at the end of this chapter it seems that the sheriff is beginning to feel some of the supernatural. He sees and hears a person in the room, but Father Brian says no one is there. You build up to the entrance of Sheriff, as if something weird is about to happen. The dog's behavior adds to the suspense. It seems to sense when there's something strange happening. The smell of sage is a neat touch. You well describe Father Brian's feelings leading up to the Sheriff's visit. Great work. judi
