A contest entry that identifies the humility and hurt that a woman experiences when she discovers that there is no foundation for their love.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful review Charlene
I appreciate the suggestion but there is a syllable count involved so just have to watch that but I'll take a look.
    Much appreciated.

I see this as not only a depiction of someone with self-worth issues, but even more as a poem about a person with a cruel selfish streak that is fed by intimidating others (or perhaps only one). You could not have described the scenario any more perfectly. These are the kinds of people who should be avoided like Lyme Disease, since the cycle of low self-worth, intimidation, more loss of self esteem, then more condemnation, continues until the "victim" breaks the cycle. Excellent poem.

This is really great. As you said, it is something anyone can relate to somehow. I like the first stanza. I've known that feeling all too often in my life. When a person is comfortable in his/her own skin, it doesn't matter what other people see because you see your true self. Great job.

Really nicely done. I can't see anything to make any comments about. I like the way you tell the message, and I really like the "right" picture to go with your words.

This was really good and seemed very personal so thank you for sharing. It's upsetting when we let people inflict on who we are and how we view ourselves but I think it happens to the best of us at one point or another.. This was a really good poem that expressed that. Really nice work! Picture was a perfect pick!

I think this is a great poem you have written. I think you are right as it's taken me over 30 years to be comfortable in my own skin. Well written, great job!

Thanks Allison, glad you are feeling comfortable these days. I think once we get over a certain age we can just be who we need to be...for some people the age varies. LOL
    Cheers and thanks so much.
