Very profound words-"since someone made this horribly misguided choice, in a region that just might know best
how to help another community heal." I very rarely ask why anymore. I always see that there is something greater than myself that is working.

I appreciate this piece, as I agree with your words and you don't pretend to have the answers, only love and support. I think people got to look evil in the eye that night. What a horrific event.

This reads like a prayer and many share in the same thoughts. It is such a tragedy in a state where there have also been recent fires and hail storms. The L-rd is shaking up things and we must keep busy while looking up to Him. ~Yona

Such a disaster, such horrific violence that I too felt lost within it as the news fed me the ghastly killings.
Your poem is strong and filled with a way to come to terms with what most likely will never be understood.
Thank you for penning this work with care and love, with hope and faith.
Thanks for sharing.

Mass shooting will go on and on with very little understanding of it. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words.

Undoubtedly we are living in a culture of violence. We always have done so. History is a record of over 34,000 wars, something like a war every six months in all recorded history. Where was God's attention when mass genocides were being perpetrated. Through the mouth of Ivan Karamazov, Dostoievski, a religious man said; "When I see the suffering of one innocent child, It's not that I don't believe in God but I most respectfully hand back my entrance ticket. The truth is that when God gave us knowledge or freedom or what have you, he left us to discover our own salvation. When we severed the umbilical chord with nature, we lost our innocence. Was this not the inevitable 'Fall' or original sin. Or was this reserved for the first murder, when Cain rose up against Able and smote him in the field and god said; "Oh Cain what have you done? Oh what have you done." Is not our natural end, our final death a violation of our lives? God works in strange ways.

You are voicing the thoughts and emotions of a hurting nation at the moment, including all our doubts about a loving God - thank you.

You are so right. There is no way to explain how things like this can happen, but those of us who trust God know that there must be a reason for it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Hugs,
Lois
