Profound writing, approaches hysteria in content and rhythm; It's not a pretty picture but it's one I've seen before. "Red Pearls" of course would metaphor the human connection--love.

Your title drew me in as I wondered where you would go with it. You turned it into a dramatic metaphor which emphasised and outlines the whole scenario.
The poem really does show forth the sadness of this disease and the torment and almost horror at how it manifests itself.

I think you captured the horrible reality of what dementia can be. I worked in a nursing home for ten years and spent most of my time with the Alzheimer's patients. Beautiful people, and if a person can just focus on the day to day, I think families can cope alot better. It's tough because the family has to forget the past right along with the person whom they love so much just to have a relationship. Families who learned to laugh despite the pain...they were the ones who survived the worst of times..find something to make you and your mother laugh...all the time. Great write..sad, emotional..just painful.

Symbolic, sad and yet full of love and care. Losing one's memory but then gaining nightmares. An appalling truth which is hitting us very hard. I like the way you combined one words string for powerful impact.
