Wonderfully descriptive lines give
the reader a clear sense of what you're feeling
and missing.
Some places of happy memories will linger
in our hearts and minds forever.
This is a lovely reminiscence. Nancy

I was fortunate enough to have been raised near the ocean. I miss the ocean so much!
My favorite lines were:
I miss the smell of salt and fish
that ride the cleansing breeze,
the seaweed strands that wash ashore
and curl like snakes with leaves.

You grab my senses with this wonderful poem, MM, and wish I could see the Bay you love so much. I loved your velvet fur otters and you describe everything so well that I swear I can smell the salty breeze.
Smiles,
Karyn :>)

This is a nice ballad--good cadence, rhyme and imagery, details an idelible picture of the beach. Monterey is up the coast aways. you captured all the sights, smells, and sounds--excellent quatrains.

Thank you! That's what I call "short and extremely sweet." I loved it! MM

It looks beautiful and I understand that and why you miss it. Lovely quatrains with rhyme and good flow. One thing I did not understand: you don't have otters at the sea, do you. I can relate to this. I'd love to live near the beach and sea again.

Yes we had sea otters there. If you look up the Monterey Bay Aquarium, you will see all the creatures that live in that area. I used to eat at a restaurant that overlooked the ocean and the sea otters would be just below, playing and tumbling and eating with their food held between their paws. Thank you for your nice review. I'm so glad you could relate to my feelings.

I learn something every day; had never heard of sea otters. Have a lovely weekend, Ine

'Monterey Footprints' is an extremely well-written and heart-warming piece. This talented poet's descriptive ability is excellent. It was a pleasure to both read and review a work of this standard.

You create some wonderful and vivid images here, Adonna, particularly of the seals and otters - you capture their character and actions perfectly. Love the seewead description too.

The atmosphere of the place and how it gave you such happiness is obvious.

All wrapped up in perfect rhyme and meter.

A lovely poem, worth my sixer.

Best wishes, earl

Miss Merri, You make me want to go there. It sounds
like a wonderful place to be. You took a great
photograph. It looks like a nice place to have fun
and relax. That would be great to see seals and ottters.

Thank you for this kind review Judy. It was one of my favorite places to go... to sit in the sand with a notebook and write. I did it often during the thirteen years that we lived there. I do miss it, and the inspiration it provided. But I'm still within visiting distance and love going when I can.

'Monterey Footprints' is a poem deserving a hundred points instead of just five. Jeep just read this poem and raved, saying you describe so vividly that the reader can plainly see it all. Every stanza holds a priceless phrase for me, I love "cleansing breeze", "seals that hug the rocks", "float on velvet furs" and more. Ahh!! Hope this one makes the front page of one of your books, MissM.
