Great message here about the beauty, peace, and simplicity in nature. If only our lives were this simple. You've illustrated your point very well with your vivid descriptions. My favorite line is "escape the grind." Good job!

Oh, you are a kindred spirit. I love it when I am looking out the window and catch a bunny, chipmunk, bird or deer doing their thing, not aware we are quietly watching. It does make your day! Your poem is beautifully written, with lovely flow, drawing the reader right in, love how the bird's mate was hidden, so precious. Your chosen photo and background color were also beautiful, adding to the loveliness of the poem. Very well done.

I enjoyed reading this. I felt it was about protection and love even thought those words weren't used. The picture a wonderful portrayal of the poetry.

What a lovely analogy. "While Watching these beautiful guardians of my soul if only I could follow their path of living escape the grind." Nice alliteration, nice description. As I'm reading this, I look out my window and there are several guardians of my soul in my bird feeder. Nice read.

Very nice images you painted here with
"brown branches hide her
but I know she is near"
Nature has a wonderful way of taking us out of the deep and changing our attitude to a more peaceful state. Well done!

Still I think once more of you
Love is blindness, love is true
The world love is what all are inquest of to sink themselves in, to be blind or not, I enjoyed reading and reviewing it, well done, Simon.

Lovely piece and I love the picture. You are doing important work and I'm sorry it's a grind for you. I'm sure you bring peace and love to those who need it as much as you need those lovely birds. You have a gift for observation and appreciation.

I love the idea of these cardinals as the beautiful guardians of your soul and the way you explain how watching them alleviates your stress if even for just a little while :-) Brooke

You took me back to our visit to Hawaii. The cardinals there are red-crested with black and white bodies, that blend like the female's does in your picture
