Having lived on the streets for a while myself, I can relate to the deep emotion of this one. Excellently written and something far too many can relate to.

Hi Sasha. It's just awful, being without a place to live. I sure am sorry you went thru it too. VERY frightening. Just the thought of it gives me the chills. Please take care and stay safe?? And thank you for this kind review too! I really appreciate it. xoxo< Susan

This is such a sad poem, but so true, unfortunately! People are retiring later and later because they can't afford to live. When they finally do get to retire, they die. What a sad situation. Great write, and thanks for bringing this up. PLEASE NOTE: i AM SO SORRY. I MUST HAVE HIT THE WRONG KEY AND GAVE YOU THIS LOW RATING. I SINCERELY DID NOT MEAN TO. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS PIECE. I HAD TO HAVE HIT THE WRONG KEY AND NOT NOTICED IT BEFORE I PUSHED SAVE PLEASE FORGIVE ME

A good write and I think it's the same in all country's. Times are hard and some people are hit more with the financial worries than others. A good write Susan, keep on writing. Molly

HI Miss Molly! You are right...and it's just a shame too. When it's mostly caused by greedy big shots. In all nations. I won't start...lol! thanks for this great review! HUG, Susan

This is an absolutely sad and heartfelt story that we have here Susan old sport. Well done indeed and it is sad that people become so poor to take to the streets.

HI Chris! Thank you so much! It's very wrong too, for anyone to have to do this. ESPECIALLY older people. I get so upset...thank you again, it's a pleasure to hear from you Chris... :o) Susan

We do seem to ignore the raging fires around us while we worry about the wee, silly things. I love my country but don't recognize it anymore. It's like a nightmare I can't wake up from.
Good writing.

Hi Sue Thank you! Yes, we all do it. I could start ranting but will spare you this time! LOL! I get so upset. I'm with you. It's "our" government. They are all out of control. Period. xoxo, Susan

Oh, so sad! To be in a good spot in life and then to have it all disappear and then to have to start over again. Very sad. We just never know where life is going to take us, do we? I just enjoy your voice, Susan. You tell stories from the heart. Dana

HI Dana! How are you? Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I know so many who have to work even after they were to be retired...something is wrong with that. VERY wrong. Thank you dear...I appreciate this and love hearing from you.... :)) Susan

A fine idea to show the present state of affairs in your country. Don't worry, things are looking up. The POTUS has decided to auction the spectrum to rake in $500 billion, which should do the trick for the poor and marginalized.
However, in this short piece I found the following.
Nowhere-one word.
2.He walked with his companion-hunger
southwest, and
life, and he
Who had given up on him- combine it with the last sentence.

Wow, that was short--but well written and depicts a bleak future. Excellent use of the word 'again,' especially in the last paragraph. Suggests a cycle.

Hi there...good point...the cycle. Unintentional, but works. I appreciate that you got that from this...because it's true...Thank you very very much. :o) Susan

I don't know what has happened but it came along with Obama's "Change" We need a Hero to save us . The more technology advances the more jobs that are lost. I doubt we can fix it. America is circling the drain.Good job on the story. Honeycomb

HI Honey! I love your review...you are so right...sadly. I voted for Obama based on his promises...and the minute he won, 'they' took him aside and he was TOLD...and has followed the same old 'doctrine'. I am trying to support Ron Paul. The only one who will probably keep any campaign promises...IF only. Anyway, thanks for a grand review...hugs, Susan

This is an important and meaningful flash fiction emphasizing the state of way too many in our society. No one can afford retirement or good health anymore. The brevity of the piece emphasizes the message even more with this vivid portrait of one of our lost souls.
Well-written with good use of language, punctuation, spelling, etc. I did look up one word, just to check---one with which I might have done the same: it is INconsolable instead of UNconsolable. Great photo to match.
