Nice imagery and the last line "fire of life breathing dragons" is somewhat a play on words from 'fire breathing dragons'...perhaps the fire of life is partly the fear we experience and the concomitant protection we receive.

What an amazing poem! It grabs you from the beginning as you spin the magic of the dragon throughout. I don't know if this is your unique idea about dragons being protectors and living in the flames of a candle or not, but I like it!!!

Good poem that captures the mood of flickering candle-light creating a dragon.
I thought it interesting your reversal of "fire" and "life" in the next to last line. We've all heard of "fire breathing dragons, but you made it the fire of LIFE breathing dragons.

The first stanza creates an image that makes the writer uncomfortable. The second stanza has created some fear, seeing exotic lizards, but her protectors guard her against fears the flames burn out disappear until lit again the fire of life breathing dragons. The writer illustrated her fears pretty well. I liked the way she described them, the dragon, the lizard. It is short, a three-stanza poem but, there is beauty in her expressions. My sincere congratulations. Dom

I love dragons and candles breathing flame...I won't look at my Yankee candles the same again....if I don't have my coffee in the mornings I'm dragon

How could one not be intrigued when the title speaks of Candles and Dragons. Being a Tarnished Knight I have had to slay a few of them damn dragons before and I will tell you this ..many did not come from out of a candle but they sure spit fire like a one..I am also partial to mermaids as well Good job!!
