Bill, this totally cracked me up. That 'hood ornament' headline was a hoot...well, I guess the owl story was too. A real hoot. I do know where LaGrange is. I have visited there many times when my husband fished West Point. I'll bet your brother was sorry he missed that week.

I wasn't sorry he wasn't there. We fought like cats and dogs. Fishing West Point! I've had some good luck there, but my very favorite place is a small fishing pond on the property I wrote about. Warm regards, Bill

Is this really true. Or just a clever little first person number.
Matters not a jot to me, it was a nice read and the perfect way to slide into this Saturday afternoon. Gotta love the weekend. :)

Hi Herb - thanks for reading. Somewhat embellished since it happened 50 years ago, but mostly true! Regards, Bill

Oh Bill to be raised in the south. You can't make this stuff up. :) Things like this still happen, so I know it happens. LOL You gave me my laugh of the day, because it felt like I was reading a story from my past. We still have a lot of donkeys and mules around here. Thanks for making my day. It is sad, not everyone can have memories like this, Shirley

What a great story. I would say nothing dull ever
happened to you Grandfather! I bet your Grandma
had a few choice words to say about her car.
You relate these events very well. An entertaining story.

This is a hoot! No pun intended. Your writing style is clear with good transitions. Your story telling superb. Good details leading up to each headline. I'm guessing you kept copies and are quoting the newspaper verbatim. Things happen in threes. Grandpa's adventures are proof of that.

This was such a fun story to read. You painted a very vivid tale that brought me right in. The details were a hoot (no disrespect to Hootie!) and your Grandfather must have been a treat to spend time with. :-)
Your Grandmother must have been a saint!
And you got to share life with these people, how fun it sounded. :-)
Great story!

Fantastic story about your grandpa. He sure was a fascinating guy. Your account of the summer you spent in Georgia made excellent reading. I have been missing you. Good to see you back with your trademark grin.
Cheers.

When I get through laughing and settle down, I'll write a review. I have a feeling you and Grandpa were pretty thick. I see that you are a professional writer and this story would prove it.
