Hi Sandra,
This was a very jolly children's poem with a few subtle tips; doing homework before going out to play and not excersing after eating. Good rhyme and rhythm throughout. A nice narrative and cute characters. Great job.

Cool for kids.

I could imagine this being a nice bed time story for the little ones. a nice rhyme-y tale to send little ones of to sleep. A good concept and well executed.

I love the characters' alliterative names
good rhyming couplets
and when read aloud, a good cadence
asked Millie to take it off of her back - drop "of"
Excellent use of dialogue and a good story line about being scared of heights and overcoming that fear
Brooke :-)

Very good job, Sandra. It is a bit long, but not for a children's audience. Very clever rhymes throughout. Sharp concise images for kids. Well done! Bob (Mastery)

'It's Cyril the Squirrel; he's up in the tree,
It's the shells from his nuts that are falling on me.'
Vicky yelled loudly, 'Hey, Cyril, come down
And pick up these shells you have thrown on the ground.
'You do it!' he called, 'Can't you both see
I'm sitting up here and having my tea?'

You doing a great job on these stories and you're to be commended for it.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely adore the adventures of Vicky the Vole and Millie the Mole! Even their names are adorable. :-) Although we don't enjoy the voles that our cat Buddy deposits on the welcome mat occasionally!
This chapter is wonderful, the lyrical feel was in place from start to finish. And I'm quite enamored by the last two words: tickity boo! Not sure what that means exactly, but when someone at work asks me how I am tomorrow, I may just reply, "Tickity boo, thank you!"

A very fun adventure and winning chapter in your continuing series. :-)

Thank you so much, Sue! I know what you mean, my cat does the same thing. Tickety boo, is an expression my grand father used a lot, meaning he is, feeling great. It was quite a well used phrase years ago, perhaps Cyril the Squirrel will bring it back! Thank you again, Sue, as usual, I love reading your reviews. xsx

Your poem, We want to fly!, is an excellent chapter to add to your book, HEDGEROW CAPERS. Your poem has a wonderful rhyming scheme and the cadence is light and happy. I am sure the children will LOVE this!!

Sandra -- This is a great children's poem. The rhyming is good; it has talking animals who are on a mission; building suspense and nonsense words--'tickity boo'. When I first viewed it, it seemed rather long but after beginning, I couldn't stop until the finish.

Just a suggestion:

In the second line, last stanza -- you might try...

'...to push us so much, a really hard task.' It's not a perfect rhyme but it might suffice.

Thank you very much for sharing. geo
