You are a master at this type of poem with the pivotal line.
I can envision this "politics of love". One ponders, are they both married, or perhaps just one. The first line describes how my son met his wife. Fortunately, neither one turned away.

Is this how it goes? LOL how clever these eyes to bring about such a love when it the beginning they seek to hide away any real emotions. But awwwwwwww, they do not play for real, they tease.

Nice touch with a cute twist at the end. These little moments played out daily do give us a bit of a spring to our step.Sometimes they make our day.

Forgive my short-sightedness but four of your lines illustrate a private moment in a prospective love affair I don't see where the politics of love fits in. Be it a politics of love or a politics of manipulation in a culture of violence, politics and love don't fit in. Ghandi could,'t reconcile the two activities. As Nehru, one time Prime Minister of India once said; "I sacrificed myself to the lowest expression of human expression; politics. With respect. -Ekim

This is an excellent tanka poem, with the correct format and syllable count. The form is also good. I like your pivot line to connect the before and after of the flirtation.
