The title is eye-catching. The little finch is beautiful. The poem speaks to the friendship and interaction between a tiny bird and a human who cares for this small creature. "to fill your hunger": wonder if satisfy or assuage would be a better verb to use. (just a suggestion)

This is so nice to read. I love birds and bird feeders. The birds have such personalities. Sometimes they wait patiently for their turn at the bird feeder and then others aren't so polite. Highly entertaining. Thanks for sharing this poem.

What a pleasant read. When I was a kid, my aunt had a bluejay who visited her every summer for 3 years. It came to the window when she dishes and they talked to each other. When she went outside to fill the bird feeder, it would swoop down where the clotheline was tied, wait and watch her. As you can see, your lovely poem made me think of them. Thank you.

A delicate beak nourishes a hardy soul, is my favorite line of the poem, but I love every other word and line of this precious poem as well. You selected a wonderful picture to accent your great poem. That is kind of you to feed birds. Glad he/she made you a smile. Thanks for sharing. Poet Star

This is a lovely free verse poem, Elaine. Your American finches are so like ours, but different in detail. the forked tail and the seed-eating bill are diagnostic. Thanks for sharing. Peter

They really are so precious and darling. I feel that you must have a great backyard girl for you have all sorts of birds out there.
