I think this is a great poem you have written here. I could feel the fear in this! I love the message that he can overcome this with Gods help! Great job!

Well done! We just don't have enough horror poetry...maybe we can change that! ;-)

Excellent imagery and emotion. There's no doubt the speaker is terrified, yet resigned to this fate.

Thanks!

Ooh, scary and captivating, a man who wants to get into one's soul, take over their life... better keep the windows locked, indeed!

I think all of us have heard that knocking in the night, the howl of the...wind? and hid under covers, not daring to look out. Your poem really tells it the way we are thinking. Quite a scarey one, but just keep your faith, and evil will never get in! sxs

it is funny that while i was penning this about halfway through it took a 90 degree turn and went away from what i intended to write. guess i wasn't supposed to finish it the way i wanted.

thanks so much for your comments and review,,,,,jim

i didn't know where this was going at first with ghostly tapping and covers pulled over your head.It was a relief to find your conclusion regarding the real bogeyman.

We are happy to meet a new day every morning. Nobody is sure to meet the next morning. We just try to believe that tomorrow will surely come to us.
Thank you for sharing.

I can relate to this poem, the seemingly unending struggle between a peaceful and a rattled emotional state of mind.

Nice imagery in your words: those hounds, throaty sounds.

The confident hope we can rely on in your ending lines is such a potent force against those night terrors.

Good writing!
