This is truly a great poem full of imagery
and description with a fantastic flow.
You did a magnificent piece here telling
others what it was like being married to
a control freak.
I see you, I hear you and luckily your
friends were too.
Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks, Mamonia. I really appreciated your review and was so happy to win this one. I have such a strong preference for writing rhymed poetry that even after years of writing, I'm still a little uncertain sometimes as to whether I'm doing free verse poetry 'right.' Getting positive feedback from others is very encouraging. Thanks again.

Striking and poignant at the same time, that the tightrope walker is caught by the net of alert and caring friends. Good luck to you, Jeanie Mercer

she has a net.... she is a net for her friends and a guide and a role model showing us all how life even though it changes goes on and can be a good life just different.

Thanks, Artasylum, for your review and comments. I peeked in at your profile and am humbled by your apparent ability to overcome obstacles that would annihilate most of us. I hope this 'party' lasts a long, long time for you. Keep dancing!

this is very well written, mystery writer, a great job writing this free verse poem about the woman who couldn't take it anymore but the friends supported her. good luck in the contest.

Thanks, sweetwoodjax, for your review & kind words. And thanks for letting me know that the meaning of my poem did shine through. (I was a little afraid folks might think it really was a poem about the circus.)

Thanks. The poem builds up well, talking of love losing its balance after seven years of marriage. And the situations seems not to reverse as the husband seems to be taken over by the ticket girls who satisfy him.

Thank you

This free verse poem has a very clear picture and the meaning of the words that you wrote. But her real friends have known all along. Now that is what life is all about and them right there to catch you. Good job and Good luck with the contest

Thanks, yndemand, for your kind words and wishes. I was very happy to see that my meaning came through. (You certainly nailed it!) I had been a little afraid folks might think it really was a poem about a circus. Thanks again.

Oh I can so relate to your poetry and have seen it happening, not just to me, but to my friend also. Your description of the pain is amazing, you have captured in words how I would describe my life. Thank you for saying what I longed to hear. there is escape with friends. Net:)

Thanks, Net. I've written poetry as far back as I can remember, but, like many of us, didn't really have friends or family members with much of an interest in poetry, so I kept it pretty much to myself. When I began to be published a few years ago, that was very nice, but seeing something you've written published in journals is a different kind of nice from actual feedback from the people who read your stuff. That's such a huge part of the benefits we receive from FanStory. (I discovered FanStory thru the Winning Writers website; just wondered whether that's how most people find it?)

Wow, this is a poignant description of the subject's feelings and relationship. I like the ending and imagery of the friends "waiting with a net."
