Yes! This is a beautiful 6 star masterpiece. The tender love between animal and master and the discriptive imagery worked together to melt my heart.

This piece is not about George though he symbolized life and death itself. This is about Catherine and how through her horse regained her meaning for life. Horses have their own understanding of people, at least some people. What could be more meaningful than Catherine' rapport with George after all George drew her back from the abyss of death. In the end George had a stoical understanding of death just as Catherine had learned to live each day in the shadow of death; The shadow of George's immanent death. This was George's strength. Most of us think of the might of horses as a raw, physical thing. I wrote about horses once upon a time."Eyes like coals blown on the breath of their nostrils,/ Whiskered chins tucked into stoutly arched necks;/ Saliva creams iron, on pain curled tongues./ Reins and stretched stirrups curtail equine might.../" George's strength lay in his relationship with the poet. - Ekim.

This is beautifully written and full of sincere emotion. I know the pain (very well) of losing a four-legged soul that through the years, becomes a part of you.

Though I was hardly reading objectively, I didn't see any blatant errors, nor can I make any suggestions to improve this work. Well done. --Tamara

As the tears roll down my face I am admired of your love for George and how this story touched me so. At first I thought it was about the human man George and then found out it was this magnificent love of George the horse. The party for him and all was so touching. THis whole write was so heartwarming and touching.

I commend you on your non-fiction story that I will never forget.

Blessings to you and to George.

What a lovely story. Wow. I personally never had much interaction with horses but I can certainly understand the power of an animal as a companion...even one as large as George. Your writing is so smooth and it really was a pleasure to read. Very well done. -Jeff

Hello Bev,

This is one of the most touching pieces I've read on this site in quite a while. You actually caused my eyes to tear up a little as I came to the end of the story, and I'm not particularly enamored by horses. Your work is well worth the six-star rating.

HI!Writingfundemension. W£hat a really, really, beautiful mind picture you have painted about the George's last day and the pride with which he carried himself towards his final resting place. The tale Catherine told you of Patches standing guard over George grave was so, so, moving. Your description of the whole scenario is just perfect, yet heartbreaking. Thank you so very, very, much for sharing this. It is a story that I, personally, will remember for a long, long, time especially when I see a stately horse. wiljacro.
