This story touched me deeply. You have told it with detail and the language expressing real grief. Yes funerals are often for the grieving aren't they. The pictures you drew with words were graphic and colorful. The art-work fitted too. Can a horse be called a 'man?' - I guess so in this context. Well done!

This is a sad story about George. Not long ago, our dog, Hunter passed away in our back entrance of old age. It was so sad. So I can relate to this story very well. Animals are closer to humans than we think. They have feelings, and have unconditional love. They too are forgiving. Well done! Lois

Great write, Bev. George reminds me of my Henryand their stories are very similar. I lost Henry to the same disease manifestation. I have written about him in my portfolio. There is a matter of fact-ness to your story that appeals. You were an observer not a character and the voice of your story reflects that. You gave George an aura of nobility -- one that was, no doubt, observed and felt. Your narrative moves smoothly from first through last lines. Well done. D

Wow. What a sad story. However, it was beautifully written.

I too, have a love for horses. In fact, if you ever read my first book, The Question, my favorite horse - Half Pint, is mentioned.

Thanks for sharing this. JW

Oh you have made me cry. Horses get to me with their faithfulness. I have had my dogs do the same thing Patches did. They know so much more than we realize. Very moving story, and very well written.

This is a truly touching story, Writingfundimension. Many of us have known the true affection and connection with an animal so special it can't be fully explained. You tell the story well and with wonderful tenderness.

The artwork is very fitting with your story. It brought back memories when I had a pure-bred quarter horse for my seven children. All of cried when we had to give him away as the village I live in did not allow a horse on one acre of land. Thanks for sharing a lovely story.

What a touching story this was. So very touching and heartfelt. Horses will always have a special place in my heart I do so love riding. I used barrel race in my teens I haven't the time to chase the redo scene anymore but watch them from afar. They can indeed be a best friend sweet and spirit filled creatures. Thanks for sharing I loved your note as much as your story.
