Hi there, overall, I really liked this piece. However, I think tha it probably could have been extended a little longer. I love the cat bit! Very creative! I did find it a little odd that it was from the point of view of the horse, but the series "Warriors" was from the point of cats, and that went over well, so I'm sure it's fine. Nice job!

Normally I litter the reviewer notes thing with suggestions and constructive criticism but I really couldn't with this. It's so well written.

It's very dramatic as well. I was unsure until the last few lines whether the little foal had even survived. But some wonderful imagery at the end put my mind at rest.

Really good job.

Hi Susan:)
You already know what a horse person I am. I have been present for the arrival of more than one foal and it always is a magical moment as the mother attempts to bring her baby to life in the exact way you describe by licking, prodding and nudging her baby.

Your words capture all the drama, uncertainty and fear of failure, until her baby rises on spindly legs and then instinctively seeks its first meal.

The moon, old tomcat and plastic clock show your careful attention to details and make this story special. I loook forward to more great chapters.

Love and Irish hugs, dear friend,

Roger

Hey Susan,
First of all best wishes for the new Year. This is nicely crafted and laid out. Your use of the moon (Luna and a coat of sparkling, silver moon glow is so cool. Horse lovers of the world come together when we foal. Nice one here

Susan, this was a most satisfying and life affirming tale. It spoke of motherhood and the miracle of life that often goes unnoticed. The dynamic tension in this "ordinary" moment was palpable. The fantasy element of the moon light was brilliant and, in a sense, spiritual. Great start to the New year! Blessings, Hector

Hi Susan,

I would so afraid this little filly was going to die and I was so relieved that she didn't. This is a wonderful story of patients and perseverance. I have seen colts born and it is a magical experience. They are so cute when they stand on their new and wobbly legs. Well done....blessings, chey

Oh, I'm so glad you read this Chey. And that you've had/seen, the wonderment of foals coming into the world too. If you can, watch the movie Secretariat! I promise you will love it. The real owner of 'Big Red' is in it too! ")) xx. Susan

Oh good...I still, get tingly as he comes around the bend to win the Triple Crown. Diane Lane narrates and it makes me 'cry' strange tears of awe?? How odd. x.S.
