There is nothing better than to read an article that was written from the heart. And there is no doubt, this one comes from yours.

May you have a Happy New Year - no matter if you write novels or poetry. JW

a great piece of reflections,
easy to relate to.
I can't master metre in poetry
either... altho I can syllable
counts.

Myself, I write as I feel, from the heart, and
am often in trouble with those more serious
poets.... but if I have to start worrying about
such then it will take the joy from my writing.

For 2012, I wish you mainly good health... and happiness, my friend.

God Bless.

Margaret

'Reflections' is a fine piece. I enjoyed the poetry with short story combination. Poetry is harder to write. I think you do well at writing it. There are so many rules to remember unless you go modern or free verse.

You sound like Mrs. America asking for world peace. Hush ya mouth... let the Congress work for us. But I wish the world a better place too.

Good work. Nice poem. Great personal essay. Thank you for sharing.

Peace, love and happiness always,
Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)

Happy 2012!

My husband spent 23 years in the military. I lost count how many times he has been deployed. My oldest son is active duty and has been to Iraq four times and Afghanistan once. He's due to go back in February. My prayer for World Peace is genuine. Too many lives have been lost. Thank you for the kind review.

"War is stupid" sums up my sentiments. God bless them for protecting our country. Big hug.

I think this is such a very interesting essay you have written and I really enjoyed reading it! I haven't even tried poetry yet but I'm sure I wouldn't get very far! Well done!

Thanks for this honest and probably sometimes painful reflection. I am not sure I am brave enough to put things down on paper the way you do.

I do enjoy your prose a lot, and am following your novel.

I understand the need to concentrate on something you're good at BUT you don't write bad poetry. Maybe free verse would be more your thing, for you have a good sense of rhythm and flow. Also you are a thinker, and rhyme can really get in the way of thought.

If your muse calls you to poetry again, I would welcome it.

My muse tends to get her way. She won't stop bothering me until I follow her lead. I have spent many a sleepless nights because I attempted to ignore her. I am wondering why I have to have a female muse. Why can't I have a sexy hunky male. Many men on this site have sexy females. I may have to write a poem about that..... LOL Thank you for the kind review. You may have prompted something.

I enjoyed reading this a lot and your author's notes were great, too. We are all learning a lot on fanstory. About writing, and each other, which makes it a neat sight. Today it wouldn't allow me to log on, and I about freaked out! I finally figured out the cookie thing...But anyway, back to your story. It was well written and fun to read and Happy New Year to you! Tell your husband he did a nice job with the picture. It is prickly pears, isn't it?

Yes it is. We live in Texas and it's a scene by a little lake not far from our house. He often takes his morning coffee there and watches the critters around. Thank you for the kind review.

Yes! The only reason I know about prickly pears, is because in the 80's I lived there for almost seven years, and haven't seen a prickly pear since! LOL

Hopefully it was a littler cooler then.

I am from the Midwest and to me Texas is scorching hot. I heard this on the radio for days and days 'today will be a high of 100 and a low of 80...'

Yes, it is. I am from the Midwest too. We got here by the way of the Army. I couldn't sleep last night because it was hot and turned on the air conditioner.

We actually bought a house in Copperas Cove, I teach in Killeen.
reply by Linda England Bonam on 31-Dec-2011
Yes, I remember now. I think we talked about this a long time ago. I had found a wallet and returned it to Copperas Cove, and I think I told you about it.

Yes, I think you did. My memory is so bad. Where in the midwest are you from?

What a lovely birthday gift! My husband gives me FanStory for Christmas. Regardless the category, I admired your whimsical verse--the "singing bass" is choice--and heartfelt reflections in prose along with your husband's vivid art. I second your "prayers" and wish you and yours a peaceful new year- Joan

I like the artwork, hubby is talented as well. Your poem to start was not bad. But your writing is better. Nice sum-up you gave and love the wishes at the end. Vaya con Dios, Happy New year to you and yours. You can also read my free verse one for the Happy New Year if you want.
