This is denoting a restless being who found someone, just in tine, to love and be loved. "Your smile caressed my bruised soul... and the rest of the stanza, sparkles with eloquence.

This is how back I had to go to find something I hadn't read yet.
It tells vividly of how love can save a lonely soul from having to act
happy when he is sad and lonely. It flows well and has a touch of faith
in it too.
Keep writing
Joan

You're right, Bob.
Some never will.
Then others will find it, only to have it slip through their grasp.
God certainly has a warped sense of humor.

I've never quite understood what prompted you to stop writing poetry altogether.
Especially when you are this damn good at it.
I suppose you felt it was time to focus on your novels, and your novels alone.
However, you do know what they say about novelists and poets, do you not?
Novelists make some of the best poets there are.

"Precise, yet vague,
such chameleon paths were traveled.
God's plan hurled me onward
to discover your world in mine
at the brink of my fading sunset.

Your smile caressed my bruised soul
like velvety fingers of mercy.
Your wondrous blue eyes
coaxed me with everlasting
calm . . . and serene love.

Lovely, Bob.
Oh...to have a love such as this...

Ahhh. Deano. I do miss writing short stories and poems very much...and in fact...I may toss in a poem from now on from time to time. I forgot how good I can acttually do sometimes with poems. I have to be inspired though. LOL..and you did that! Hey, btw, I just got the contracts in the mail for Triple Crossed. It will be tentatively released in late May or early June of this year. I also am going to forward your cover concept if you don't mind. I like it. Bob

Absolutely, Bob. I would consider that an honor. Thanks for thinking of me.
I think you'd be good at anything you decided to write, Bob.
Some are just born with that "gift", and I don't believe it's something that can be taught in school, or earned by getting a degree.
    Not completely, anyway.

You're more than welcome, Bob, anytime.
Thanks again, and take care of yourself.

Holy smokes! He writes POETRY! Hoorah Bobba...
This was truly stunning my friend and you may well have been a wounded soul but I see your heart has found true love. You are right though, we don't ALL find it. Some of us realise we have to settle for "comfortable" and let the true loves of the world enjoy what they have without being TOO envious. You speak of such a beautiful bond with eloquence and a wonderful turn of phrase. Some smoooooooooth words my friend and I simply LOVED these delicious descriptives (good and not so favourable) *wink*
"mindless masquerades"
"misty moonlit charades"
The "deserted beaches" you spoke of also revealed a lot about looking for love perhaps in some of the wrong places or perhaps coming up empty and lonely, despite NO lack of looking.
"chameleon paths"
"your world in mine
at the brink of my fading sunset"
Gosh, that was a stunner friend.
Lastly the "velvety fingers of mercy" would have snapped me up too me thinks. Not to mention the sea blue eyes although to be honest I have always been a sucker for the big brown ones. Great job Bob.
Cheers
Pip

PS Your first line DOES resonate deeply too, sometimes the mask of mirth is easier to put on. Hey, sometimes you GOTTA put on a happy face and just wear the damn thing.
Bit like eatin' a pie you don't exactly always like the taste of. We have to truly be thankful for what we have as there is always someone worse off around the corner...and also I find people don't always want to hear the depths of despair and turmoil you've been to and through for the sake of that four letter word. LOVE. *sigh*

Ah, to find such a love. This is so beautiful. I was so captured by the wonderful, lyrical cadence. The alliteration is perfectly placed. I was carried away...

Hey Bob,

This is quite beautiful and I don't know why I missed
it when you posted it. I'm glad I found it this evening

The poem is extremely well written. I admire your
skilled use of English, including effective alliteration.

My favorite lines are:
God's plan hurled me onward
to discover your world in mine
at the brink of my fading sunset.

Well done!
Ray

A poem with a happy ending. I enjoyed reading this poem aabout finding love. You have a nice style in presenting the story. The last stanza flows beautifully; the words are like music.
