I can only count the ways that I am grateful to not have to go through that pain. I have been married 47 almost 48 years and I could not imagine the pain

Great series of 5-7-5's. Loved the purple background as it is a colour of grief. You wrote about the process of divorce so well here and full of emotion. Can totally agree with your footnote.

This poem has depth and purpose. It accurately protray the agony of divorce, the damage it does to kids, permanently. The flow has a sense of rawness to it that shows that the words came from deep within the poet, and gives this poem the kind of legitimacy that is hard to find in many well designed and perfect literate poems.

t'was one fine... should be: 'twas one fine...
'I'm seeking my dear none to hold;
I'm seeking my dear one to hold
only minor flaws! Good luck!

I think this is a great poem you have written here! So very sad but very beautifully written and honest, you are very brave to write about such a dard topic.

Separation from a former loved one indeed demands a period of mourning. It is akin to a death and the first reaction is must I go through this? You should know that the shadow of suffering is always in the wings even as you rest in times of contentment. Suffering and pleasure are surely two sides of the same coin. Detachment of earthly things, including in relationships is an ideal state maybe unattainable. After the loss there is the emptiness and all we do is search for escapes, denial and dreams of the past all of which are aggravations of the spirit because whatever has past is dead. THat should include memories. Memories become illusions. But to accept this is to pave the way into the future. Remember life and relationships are not static. THey are in a constant state of flux and movement. In as short a time as possible forget your memories, renounce your sense of guilt and remorse and one day you will realize that now is the first day of the rest of your life. You have one more thing to learn; the need to gain a certain detachment. All I have said lies buried in the words of your poem. Good luck. - EKim

i'm sorry to hear about your messy divorce.
it's always harder for one of them. does this amount
to the amount of love each held dear?
well-written. was this biographical?
