I'm 74, so I can appreciate your years written as memoirs. it's well written, not too downtrodden, cheerful in part, a life well lived. I enjoyed reading. I think we need to look back at the good times, an who cares if we did it on a shoestring budget? Thanks for sharing.

You have written a complete novel here in a poem. I really enjoyed reading this story and think you may not have had wealth but you are rich in experiences. Your last line sums it all up very well. Blessings. Jen

The have's and the have not's of life are different for each and everyone of us... which is a great thing, for we all have different needs, wants and wishes : )) Material things hold little worth to me BUT i work hard for the things I do have. Experiences in life are what I hold dear and the memories of those experiences are priceless. Your meandering memories cause one to pause and ponder their own life, their own have's and have not's : )) Nice!

I absolutely love this poem. Through the use of a wide variety of examples of what you do and do not have, you have painted a moving picture of a wonderful life with more joy and sorrow, more seen and experienced than owned.

Hi Dos, it is so good to see you sweet girl....I'm sorry I haven't called more...but I haven't been reviewing to much either...I walked into a glass door...and have a concussion...it hasn't gone away to fast...I keep getting these headaches...but I will say it has gotten better in the last week...

my mother is going to turn 90 on Thanksgiving day...I am going to try and make the trip...so I will let you know when I get to Florida...won't be leaving until next week...

how have you been doing my dear friend???...

I understand your poem completely...there are so many things I never did but wish I had done...so glad you were able to see and do so many things... for me...the years are catching up...and I see many changes in my life about to happen...as much as I love my home...the snow...and being in Illinois...I think the time to move is coming...sigh...I love your poem beautiful girl...and love your picture...very nicely written you...will call soon...much love...Uno...xxoo

Hi, Linda! Sorry to hear of your medical problems. That theme seems to be the way it is once we reach a certain age. Over the last 1 1/2 years I have battled cancer, had a second cancer scare, had a hysterectomy, a 4 week bout with the flu and a 4 month battle with Shingles which hasn't totally left my body and may never leave, according to my doctor. My cataract surgery had to be canceled 3 times so far due to these other illnesses so my sight is poor at this time. My last cath lab did not result with a positive 'fix' so I have to go back there. Appointment with cardio guy is December 23rd. Meantime, I am really low energy and have a weird sleeping schedule. I realize that once I hit 70, I really began falling apart! Will be good to see you. Take care of yourself. Linda

This is a beautiful posting reflecting back on one's life and winding up being satisfied with the results of what was done, and not discouraged over what was not done. I enjoyed reading it very much.

This was a good read, livelylinda. I enjoyed your meanderings and how even though you listed your nevers you still have had such a full life. Nice job.

Hello LivelyLinda, what a great poem. I loved the way you juxtaposed real wealth against temporal wealth. This was just beautiful:

felt the awesome power of the waves pounding to shore
and was intrigued by the absolute beauty
of the most incredible entity on this magnificent planet.

And your positive ending, you don't see increasing years as a negative but a positive. I really appreciated that viewpoint.

Nicely written. This poem moved me and that's what poetry is all about. Have a great day, Poet. Eve.

And a worthy wander through a life nicely lived, and lived with the full knowledge of living. That's a rare gift and I loved this piece to pieces. Pity we can't all look back so.

I am 76 years old and like you, I have never had earth shaking experiences, but I have treated each experience as if it were the most important one yet. I have tried to treat each person I have ever encountered as if they were the most important and the interesting ever. I consider this maximizing each day as if it were my last, because one it will be. Thank you for a post that made my heart smile and swell with thanksgiving.
