Hello Linda, this is a beautiful piece of writing. Much of what you write in the first few stanzas I would say will apply to all of the readers. But your go on and write what is more important than any of that which goes before. You have been happy. Riches and privilege don't necessarily bring happiness. The second part of your 'story' sounds wonderful and your ending is lovely -
And as my years on this earth wind down, I know
it has been grand
and what now I reap is what I sowed....... Just lovely!! And finally, you are not old at 71, LOL! If you are in good health then you have many more happy years to come. Warm regards Dorothy xx

Unfortunately, I am not in good health. I was wondering what I could do to improve this poem. Your 4 stars indicates it is lacking something and I would like to make it better. Linda

This is a lovely diatribe that beautifully reminds us all that ALL of the great things in this world can't be bought yet are absolutely free ( including our redemption through Christ, I might add) This was a pleasure to read. God has surely blessed you where it matters. Thanks for sharing that.

This is absolutely beautiful, my friend! I love the manner in which you transition from worldly riches and the comforts many feel they provide into the spiritual realm of those things which truly matter in life. I wonder if we have seen the same angels :). Well done and not just the poem, but your exemplary life too. Blessings to you for sharing it.

A beautiful and elegantly spoken poem written in prose and creating an amazing picture of a full, proud, yet humbling life. The final verse, "And as my years on this earth wind down, I know it has been grand and what now I reap is what I sowed" culminates the piece in perfect summary.

Hello Lively Linda, as I read your poem, I felt as though you were talking about me. There were so many lines that I can relate to.
Of note:
--still looking for the dust cloth
(me too, it's amazing has those things just disappear)
And:
--Dust off the vacuum now and then.
(I don't know how they get so dusty...perhaps lack of usage. Lol)
Thank you for sharing your memories. Many of them are mine too.

I liked your poem. I can't lie that I always look for rhymes but this poem is different, it tells a story of an old woman who treasures her adventures. I liked your writing. Congratulations for your recognition. Keep writing!

It's wonderful to read your poetic memoir and to understand that you are content with the process of your life. What more can anyone ask? I think the free verse format works perfectly for your meanderings.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Linda,
You meander exceptionally well in this wonderful poem of remembrance.
An excellent shift halfway through, to the positive experiences
that are not open to everyone. I prefer to walk in a forest, along a shore
or by a garden, than in a mansion. Beauty has no price tag.
Sometimes there is more joy in a single flower than a large bouquet.
I also love to sit beneath the stars and read six-star poems like this one.
Virtual stars ******, as I have no fanstory stars left.
