Your author notes are superb-you have a good flow with your poem-I guess it was about time for Australia to win --a well penned write-great job.

This is an interesting poem. I guess since I am from the USA, I should want Serena to win. LOL Your poem has good rhyme and the rhythm is smooth.

Haha, I am sure you did...but coming from Oz I simply had to barrack for Stosur. We haven't won this womens title since 73 so big celebrations here coupled up with a lotta Aussie pride.
    Cheers and thanks William.

Um...excuse me but she DID whip ass pal, the umpire made the right call...Serena squawked before Sammy got to hit the ball...PENALTY!!!! She DID NOT shake the umpires hand at the end and prior to that hurled abuse at her on about 3 different occasions...oh, and lastly I DO believe 6/2 6/3 is a thorough flogging. Well it IS in my book...Perhaps you beg to differ on that pooint? Hmmmm. No need to confirm, you'll concede, I affirm. Haha Now, moi thinks in regards to the Oz woman conversation I would soiy yoir boing oin moite!...I agroi. Thoinks foir a deloightfoil roivoiw.

Good for your girl! While I used to play a little tennis, I haven't followed it in years, but I do know that it's time for Serena to step aside. And who better to win the U.S. Open than an Aussie! This was a fun little limerick to read, my friend. Connie

I don't follow it either mate just happened to see the tail end of the match and just enough to see that supersilious smirk wiped off Serenas face. Boy she was rude to the umpire after a call and it all turned shit shaped from there. Never mind.
Glad you enjoyed my little bit of fun. Thanks for a great review.
    Cheers Phillippa xoxo

This is an absolutely marvelous Limerick you have composed here old sport.
It is a rather splendid poem and tribute to a lady unknown to me until Yesterday.
Well done indeed with this splendid win and poem

Apparently this is boorish taunting. I dunno. But thanks kiwi for the vote of confidence. I just had a corker punchline I had to use...hope it's not too "toot your own horn"...for chrissakes a woman hasnt won it since 73...I think we can whoop it up a bit! LOL Probably won't happen again for another 37 + years!
Cheers and thanks for your support...be over to see you soon.
    Sorry way behind.

The rhymes and the rhythms are in there, but grace and manners are lacking. Why the boorish taunting? Congratulations to Sammy, all the same.

Hi there thankyou and didn't realise but I thought limericks were supposed to be a bit lewd, crude and rude. I am sure boorish fits in there well. Thankyou all the same.
    Cheers CP
reply by jackpeg on 12-Sep-2011
I never heard they were supposed to be crude, or that they were not. I've watched dozens of Aussie players play Americans, Rod Laver, Roy Emerson, Ken Rosewell (my favorite), and Lew Hoad, to name a few. I cheered whoever won. The Williams sisters came out of the Los Angeles ghetto. Before they were twelve, they were trouncing the college boys from UCLA in flour sack dresses with second hand, broken-string racquets.

Well Serena needs to learn some manners again...she didn't even shake the umpires hand after she got called and lost the point for squawking before Stosur hit it.
Things turned pear shaped from there. I found her attitude rude and obnoxious.
    Nuff said.
reply by jackpeg on 12-Sep-2011
You're right about Serena's manners. Both players and fans could ought to subscribe to the same rules of etiquette. At the end of her concession speech, she did acknowledge Sam as the better player that day, saying the call wouldn't have made any difference. But, certainly, her adolescent tirade did---with her fans.

Oh yes indeed Clo. Not that I care much for tennis but I saw the end of this match this morning so you are very topical with this one. LOL Bloody hysterical, great play on words and yes, "I wish I had thought of this myself" lol I wonder if you tried to make a senryu out of this? Just sounds like such a great end line, even 5 syllables. Way to go Closet. Bloody beauty. xxx Pix

Apparently this was boorish taunting according to someone...never mind, thought thats what this style was about...typical Yanks...can't take a jibe.
At least Aussies can take a joke...shit, I think we can.
    Can we?
    Pix?
Hmmmmm, more thought needed...I'll let you know! LOL
    LOL
Cheers and thanks a bunch baby...I needed a good review, it felt a bit clunky on one line...I liked my ending too...Closet xoxoxo

Nicely written. I really like that you used a tennis player for your subject matter. I don't really follow tennis, but I always wanted to learn. Nicely written:)

I'm giving you the one finger salute for dissing my gal Serrena. LOL! Your limerick is kick ass. One of these days somebody will take you serious and bitch smack you, you cheeky broad. You excellently used rhyme and alliteration. Wicked cool art work. I enjoyed the lines: "Well she blitzed you, it's Ace - Wiped the smirk off your face And she's now called your Open door closer!" Don't be a poser. Keep on rocking the cheeky verse. Have a bitching day...Melissa.

Cheers and thanks for your support...really appreciate it, cheeky and all...have a bitchin day yourself.
