Susan,

This is an excellent story about a woman, living alone, who became old. At the end of the story, I get the feeling that she dies. I enjoyed this read and couldn't find anything to criticize.

Gypsy Woman by realist101
Susan,
Your story is beautifully written. Your descriptive writing is excellent and your well crafted vocabulary words paints a vivid mental picture in the readers head. Your narrative is great in your story. Missy. In a minimum of words for the greatest effect you've successfully created a setting, conflict, and a resolve to your story. I enjoyed this descriptive you had written: "Wavering shadows seemed to move as a familiar shape formed behind Gypsy. Broad shoulders leaned toward her, the tall man's familiar hands caressed her weary shoulders gently, and she closed her eyes in ecstasy as her lover began to fade into the recesses of her mind. Beautiful once more, Gypsy Woman reached out her quivering hands as she followed him through space and time, leaving the swamp and it's utter loneliness, to speak of things unknown." I immensely enjoyed this terrific flash fiction story, my friend. I'd defiantly recommend your story titled Gypsy Woman as a 'must ' read. Keep on writing fabulously, my friend. Long time no read. I've missed your short stories and your reviews. I hope you're back. Have a marvelous weekend. Love ya...Melissa.

Haven't seen you post for quite a while, or perhaps I just missed it.

This is a very sesuous post with layers of detail artfully adding to the melancholy dance.

Beautifully written.

This is a beautiful story. I have strong past life memories as well. In fact I co-authored "The Gypsy Girl" with N.K. Wagner and we posted it several weeks ago. It is in 2 parts. The part about Pere Robert and Mala is a past life recollection of sorts. You might enjoy the read. In any case, you did a great job of setting the mood of this powerful piece. Be well. Larry

Go to N.K Wagner's profile. In the bottom left you will see a list of her work. You can click on Part I there. Part II is under my profile. We collaborated on the work. Let me know if you still can;t find. Larry

Oh thank you Miss Margaret! SO good to see your name here. My battle continues, legal matters take forever but am settling into a house and hoping no one begins to harass our horses here. At first, the 'elements' of disgust had to let us know that they know where we are, so, I will continue to stand up against it. SOOOOoo wrong. BUT, I am happier closer to my brother and all...I saw a movie set in England...and sat there wishing I lived there. Oh well!! You enjoy it for me and keep me posted as to how you are!~! LOVE! Susan

Susan, it is great to read a new piece by you :-)
Long, silky hair, swung - drop the second comma
the swamp and it's utter loneliness - drop the apostrophe
This is beautifully evocative, Susan.
You get inside this aged gypsy woman's thoughts so well as she remembers her youthful beauty and confronts the reality of her deterioration with age.
And that final paragraph with the appearance of her lover in the mirror as he leads her into the afterlife and a restoration of beauty, that is just wonderfully moving :-) Brooke

Wow! It is good to know you're still around. I haven't read anything from you in a long time. Actually I haven't written anything in a long time myself. I've been distracted by other things. This is beautiful. You are a good writer. Did you find a place to move to?

Susan! You've certainly picked up where you left off. This was stellar. It looked like a poem and a story at the same time, which is very hard to do.

From your tough life, I see a lot of you in these characters you write about. I still remember about the pioneer woman and her baby. This poem seems like the opposite of that one. It ends in hope rather than dispair, and I hope that's how things are going for you. Thanks for writing your stories. They are special.

HI Jack!! Thank you so much, what a thrill to see a little gold plus. I had almost forgotten how nice it is to be here. To have you remember a past story too is a real honor. I still absolutely love your story of the Amish in the courtroom...that is just the best. I need to read it again too. HA! ")) Wow. Hugs for being here for me my friend...Susan

This story is well written and most enjoyable. There is an air of sadness about it as Gypsy Woman dances, remembering her youth and happier times. The scene where she looks into the mirror and chants is touching, wanting the woman staring back to be young. I loved the ending and found the story interesting. Michelle
