If I had the power, Mrs.Wilkey, I'd say "You're hired." The opening paragraph sparked my interest in the characters, and you give enticing little tidbits of romance and adventure to come. You were also smart to explain why you queried this publisher and what about your background gave you credibility in writing this novel. Sending a postcard was a nice touch. Good luck! judiverse

good start. You should put your summary under a label: synopsis. I think you should include a bit more about yourself AS AN AUTHOR. You do not have to mention sources, but do find a way to mention your research.

Interesting. I can relate to this because I tried writing a query letter and shortly after realized that I wasn't ready for the big time. Your query looks different from what I read, but I guess that means there are different ways to do it. Thanks for sharing.

I think there may be numerous ways to do it. I purchased two books put out by Writer's Digest and this is what they suggested.

i've read many articles and books also about querying and i will say that this letter is concise and complete and is well organized enough so that it should get the attention of the target agent.
the required story synopsis or summary is there and i believe the plot so well follows the formula for a successful spy/action/romance novel.
the writer has also offered some preliminary background of herself and has offered to give more if required.
i believe this query letter is true to form and intent and does not need any modifications.
