Very nicely done. Great narrative flow, good dialogue, believable, well rounded characters, You have an easy flowing writing style that reads well.

Some things. Finding out at the very end that the Tipsy Butler is a real place...well, that was an AHA moment. It explained to me why your very first paragraph felt like a plug, or something out of a travelogue. It felt strangely out of place. That happens in one or two other places in the story, but not to the extent of the first paragraph. You may have changed some things around, but the tone was still felt off.

Emma's castigation of Luke for not falling all over himself to find out how Mia was felt contrived, especially since just a little later she was more than willing for Mia to get up and do her thing despite the concussion. Also, later on in the story she herself is moaning over the food. I thought she said that food was not why they were there? I realize that they are in a different place, but still, it felt inconsistent and strange. I don't know Emma, maybe Emma is just a contradictory, controlling bitch.:-)

Last, and don't get upset, I mean this in the most constructive way possible, your "terms" section of this story came across as condescending. All of these terms are in mega-wide usage today and are not specialized or esoteric knowledge in any way.

Okay, that's all. I enjoyed this story very much, and it held my interest enough that I would read more! Keep on writing!

An interesting review. Not everyone is aware of the terms involved in psychic investigation. I would rather err on the side of too much information rather than not enough. If informing potentially unaware readers is condescending, then I'm willing to risk that being the case for a reader like yourself.

I love watching paranormal shows on television and everything you say in this novel matches up perfectly with what the rest of the investigators say. This was a neat little twist we didn't see coming. I'm sure we'll learn the whole truth when the investigation is finished, that is, if they all survive.

I too enjoy a roll with a lobster! Too true that vampiric spirits drain energy - don't know about vampires but dark spirits have a way with good people if we let our guard down. And yes, folks that have a saviour complex are most at risk from psychic attack; they can kill the body but the soul belongs to god. I never cease to enjoy your chapters! Luv, K.

I agree about using the gifts for good, Kay. I've never wanted to do anything but that. I feel so blessed to have been given the ability to help people heal emotionally, physically and mentally. But it can be draining 'work'. I've learned to take the time to properly prepare and shield.
