I'm reminded of a line in Before Sunrise when the girl said what could be worse than sitting next to a lover and feeling lonely? At a moment like this, you know for certain you're heading for a goodbye..

The feeling of loss is strong here
The closeness that makes it run so deep
Together yet with a distance so great
That is a tragedy of bitter fate
Hope the poem did well this time
In the contest that was its design
For the poem in darkness does seem
Yet written with a passion that is all too true
