Barbara, I'm new to Fanstory, so have not followed your situation all along. However, having read this, I feel compelled to post my best wishes to you. This ordeal sounds dreadful - I hope that you find a way to rise above the pain and find comfort.

'The Nightmare Ends' is such a revealing story of your arduous recovery, Barbara. You describe your feelings, symptoms and treatments so well that you gave me a real eye opener. I hope writing for FS gives you some moments of relief. My prayers are with you. Marie

Yes, writing does help. It keeps my mind on something other than my condition. Thank you for your prayers.

hey barbara, i am glad you posted this to let us know everything, when i had a real bad time with raw blisters under my arm, the dematologist put silver nitrate on it and it cleared in less than a month. regular doctors kept giving me different prescriptions but the dermatologist was the only one that could help, an oatmeal bath will help with the other itching

This sounds so trite but this too shall pass. You have soldiered on through all else...this is another step towards life. God bless you!
PS when we have baby bottoms that are so raw they bleed we use oxygen blowing on their "hinneys"sp to dry the severe abrasions. Might be worth a try...we use 21% at about 3 to 4 liter flow.

That's an interesting suggestions. That's probably why I was told to lie in bed with my arm above my head and a fan blowing on it. I am sure the pure O2 would work a lot better.

Although I am saddened reading this very emotional essay, I can't help but smile because I see that you have still retained your sense of humour. That is not always easy to do when sickness occurs. Your detailed account of the treatments you have to do are enlightening, and gives me an idea of the physical and mental stress cancer patients have to endure. I will continue to pray for you.

I had to sit back and wipe my eyes. Okay, my husband had leukemia, but not breast cancer, I actually feel like the outsider once again. I feel helpless. My friend, sandra Marie who is a wwriter here also is going through the same thing. I asked her to look you up. not sure if she did, But you can look her up. I think. They changed things here. If not, go to my portfolio and find her under fans. I think you both need to help each other. She is a doll.
Love ya
Heidi

I know the horror of knowing someone with cancer and the weaknesses and frustrations it can cause, and the exhaustion from the treatments. It seems harder on the family than the person who is suffering from cancer. But it's harder to deal with the guilt of how you may think how much of a burden you putting others through than the actual disease. As the saying goes, "The cure is worse than the disease". Mentally, absolutely. But try not to fret. This is how we are "tested". You are not a burden. Take care of yourself.

Thank you for your insight. I often apologise to my family for being a burden because they have had to take over most of the household chores.

Isn't there anything they can prescribe for the pain? It sounds absolutely terrible. My heart goes out to you. My sister went through all of this without telling anyone but her husband and daughter. None of us knew till years later. She continued to teach all through radiation and all. I don't know how people like you and her can be so strong. Blessings,
deb

I have continued to teach also. For it is better to stay busy and to stay home and feel sorry for myself. I have a feeling you sister feels the same.
