This is a very moving poem. If only we could all rest in the place we choose.
This is a wonderful tribute to your father.
I believe though that our soul rests where are hearts lie fondest.

A lovely entry to this contest.

Many best wishes with your entry.

The art work was really great, and suited the words of this

poem. This man could look at his work on his land, with

special memories that he would recall.

I loved these words, that gave an insight into the life of a

great person.

Well done on this very moving and poignant story. Yes, if only we could die where we would choose to do so.
I pray that your wish will be granted and also that your memories of your dad will be of the farm and not the hospital room.
Filled with imagery and good flow, I truly enjoyed this read.

Oh Bill, this is a beautiful but sad story. You told it well and the message of the old farmer's desire to die on the land comes through quite strongly.

Hello friend, what a beautiful composition, very poignant verses, so full of grief, what a sad story, very well rhymed. Wonderful tribute to your father, may he rest in peace and may God fulfill your wish.

The poem is wonderful. Your emotion is felt so strong throughout its entirety. I hope that your (and your fathers) wish is fulfilled but not for a long time to come.

The Old Farmer got his wish, dying in the spot he cherished the most. Your poem was very well written, had a nice cadence and flow to it making it an enjoyable read. Although potentialy difficult to write, you did an admirable job with it.
Artwork was awesome...
A great entry for the contest, best wishes...

You have told your story well.

I do think that it is so much more humane to die among the things we love than to die in some sterile hospital room.

A lovely, spiritual write.

It must be wonderful to sink your roots so deep into the land.

Thank you my friend for your review and you're right. The land gets into your blood and becomes a part of you. Even when we're on vacation, my thoughts are constantly on the farm and I can't wait to get back to it. It's just one of things that's hard to explain. Take care/Bill

An excellent poem. "God Granted Him His Wish" The picture accompanying has strengthened the theme of the poem. The poem is about the story of an old farmer whose precious time on earth is about to end. The author has so eloquently
portrayed the feelings of the old man who, for years, have tilled the soil, and now ready to face his creator. I like most the part where the author says, As he lay there and stared towards heaven, so many thoughts raised his mind He asked God to take care of his loved ones and apologized for leaving them all behind. With final jolt of his failing heart, the old man cried, then took his last breath. The good Lord had granted him his wish as his crippled body surrendered to death." Congratulations. Dom

Thank you Dom for your great review. I'm really glad that you enjoyed it. We all have to meet our Creator sooner or later and the time and place is up to Him. All we can do is try to be ready when He sends his Angels for us. Take care my friend. Bill
