This reads like it could be taken out of someones actual diary of the time their daughter passed you have worded it so well and so realistically. I enjoyed the interaction at the beginning between the nurse and the mother, it was appropriate and fitting to the circumstances and the joy followed by the crashing realization of it being a dream takes the reader on a journey of emotional highs and lows.

What a precious story and I had to check and make sure it was fiction. What a sensitive insight that tells the story of reality for many. I love the ending with the positive uplift of Vannie's fading, up the hill of her dreams, with visions in watercolors for that tangible connecton. Beautifully done.
P.S. I love the photo. The color saturation and contrast that comes with harsh lighting is my all time favorite.

The doctor said it's just a matter of days, maybe hours now - dear God, I'm just not ready to face this./I commend you on this slice of thinking--It's the first internal dialogue I've read in several months on FS that sounds plausible, and minus the attribute, I thought----It's great reading stuff I don't have to lather with tons of corrections----I think you've got a winner in this piece. Even for a man, it evoked emotions in me usually reserved for a woman's brain. Great word portrait. I'd give you six stars, but I'm plumb out of them for the moment.

This is a well written story about a very sad event in this woman's life. It's so hard to watch someone you love just fade away like that. You could feel the mother's tension and stress, and the dream or vision of her daughter leaving somehow seems to be what she needs to accept the harsh blow before she comes.
