It came out well. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I think if I was Anna I would take Michael and run. I know in reality that doesn't usually happen. The abused person usually blames themselves. Good writing.

Barbara - this is very powerful. It is almost difficult to read. I cannot imagine women having to live in a situation like this. Logic tells me that it unfortunately happens every day. Warm regards, Bill

It does happen often, many women feel they have no way out. Anna is like this, but will find the strength when it comes to the well being of her son. Thank you for the kind review.

This sis a sad but true fact in too many homes. Hopefully by putting it out here for discussion, many more will realize that stronger laws are needed as well as women not lying and hiding about the secret. Take care-better days are ahead!!! Debbie

You're right, many women feel they have no way out or are ashamed they are treated this way and allow it to continue. Thank you for your kind review.

This is a beautiful and engaging story, my friend.
I cannot begin to imagine how any woman can take this level of abuse from any man. Well, i know it really happens, so i want to know where this one ends. kudos

Thank you for this kind review. Yes, it happens on a regular basis and not in third world countries, in the US.

So realistic...Totally deserving of the 2 ribbons, brings back more memories than I care to think about. Saw no errors, needs no suggestions with your superb character development and description of an abusive home situation. Love your writing, ad wish you the best with your radiation. later and God bless, shy

Bobby is abusing Anna, his wife. He doesn't seem to care about anyone else except for himself. Anna needs to get out of this situation. If she doesn't, her child could become like his father.

Wow, barb, what a scary chapter. Is it possible for a man to be that abusive? And after all the punches and kicks, can she still pull herself up? She needs to get away from him!

The back of his hand [crossed her mouth]. - I've never come across cross this expression of 'hitting'. Something new.

"Nothing. I'm going to feed Michael and put him to bed." [Anna] wiped tears and cringed with pain. [She] leaned against the wall, using it to help her stand. - shifted the name to the first mention and 'She' later.

"You're damn right you won't. Stand up, bitch." [Anna struggled, but stood.] - this part should be in another line, or else it appears as if they are Anna's words.

Anna heard his pick-up start, but suddenly she didn't hear it, then the door slammed.

Anna heard his pick-up start, but it died off again. Soon the door slammed.

Hope those help.

Yes, it is possible fore a man to be so abusive. It actually happens way to often. I will fix those areas. Thank you.

Wow, a lot of action in this chapter. Got my blood pressure up. She needs to leave him but that is easier said than done from what I understand. Thank God, I've never had to make that decision for that reason.

Wow, very intense. It is so sad how many women are actually involved in this particular situation every day. There never has been, nor never will be, any excuse for ANY kind of abuse. I really liked how you help the reader "catch up" if they haven't read any previous chapters (like me, for instance). It helped to have an idea of what was going on. Strong emotion throughout, I really feel unbelievably heartbroken for this poor woman and child. I look forward to reading more and seeing her, hopefully, get out of this horrible life and start anew :) Thanks for sharing!

What a sad story... very hard for me to read. There is very good imagery and descritpive scheme about what some women have to go through. God bless you, and help you in this hard moment.
Hugs for you Barbara.
