Very well written, Susan. I see this as you do:
It's a bloodbath now, yes. But sometimes the skies must get darker, a lot darker, before the sun can shine again.
It's amazing what's going on at the moment. I hope with all my heart that things turn around and that justice and equality will truly prevail all over the globe. Let's hope, eh! Penelope

The trouble is, the U.S., is trying to be the ruler of everyone. I don't want Lybia's regular people killed, yet, I don't want America being the world's boss! I just don't know...I just keep watching and like you, hoping for the best...If mankind doesn't start getting it right, well. OH< I better stop. I know not of what I rant! Thank you my dear Penelope!! Smiles! Susan

I, too, have been following this story my friend and indeed it has lead to change. People, outraged at the events that lead this young man to self-immolation, began to protest and they protested and revolted for weeks until finally Ben Ali, the president, fled, eventually ending up in Saudi Arabia and thus ending his 23 year relationship dictatorship.
How sad it took a young man being driven to setting himself on fire in order for this change to occur....
I salute and admire Mohamed Bouazizi too :):)
Just one thing.... you've spelt his name incorrectly - it should be Mohamed with an 'o' rather then an 'a'

HI again Jessie...how sad, but I hope that the death of this young man will lead to something great in the long run. People can only take so much. Remember the movie Braveheart? I love when people actually fight back when treated this way. I will check my spelling too!? I saw it spelled with an "a" online? That doesn't mean it was right tho! Thank you!! HUGS!! Susan

What a painful, awful thing to do, much less write about. Both, bold statements! I commend your world-watch commentary and opinionated editorial. Let's hope his desperate actions won't go unnoticed.
Congrats on moving up to #2 author status!

Hi there Sasil!! Thank you on both wishes. I am very honored to be recognized and about the story, I just wish so badly for the people who are treated like slaves to be able to at least have the BASIC human dignities? IF ONLY...there are too many who have died now, for them to fail. I hate tyrants. Why is it, always some CRAZY lunatic who is able to take whole countries and just ruin them??? It breaks my heart. Anyway, thank you so much...I'm very grateful Sasil, for your friendship and another kind review! xoxo, susan

Nice commentary - I love that you took a very sad and disturbing event and used it as the seed of hope. Describing the event, as you did, certainly illustrates the despair that can finally lead to the "enough!" state of being that demands action of some sort. Sadly, this action ended his own life. But, again, you provide hope with your words. Nicely written Susan. Hugs.

Wonderful, but very sad story. It seems as though the chaos we are in is leading towards the light for those living in oppressed countries. I hope so. It is about time! Well written and powerful! Hope you are doing well. I sort of crashed after being so tired and spent much of the last 48 hours sleeping. I feel like a whole different person!!! Love you, Debbie

You write with strong images and conviction.
Your thoughts and wishes following such a tragic story, are clearly voiced and I would hope all who read this would be moved to hope for the same resolutions.
No changes required that I could see.

HI Laurie! Thank you very much! I really hope things get better for the whole world. Maybe if the Middle East, one of the most difficult places to deal with, come around, the whole world will??? HOPE? Thank you again!! Susan

Hi there.
What you have written is compelling, however, if you had opened the story with the scene of this young man's suicide as it may have happened or incorporated the details from a News story, it would have been clearer. I really didn't know was at the heart of this until I read the "author notes". Right now, it's more about your opinion and less about the life of this young man.
Hope this helps.

So sad!!! We are so lucky here, aren't we. I can't imagine the turmoil they endure in the middle east every day... It saddens me that this mans life was ended so soon. I hope that things can straighten up in this world! It doesn't seem fair. I thought your tribute was well done. Dana

HI Dana!! I know. I am amazed by what is going on. I hope and hope it all gets better for them in the long run. Of course, we will have to be involved and pay higher fuel prices, etc...THAT I hate. What can we do??? SO frustrating! Thank you my friend for being here!! HUG! Susan

what a terrible, devastating
story - such a young man to
have given up his precious
life.
This tribute to Mahamed Bouazizi
brought tears to my eyes...
We must all pray they have peace.

HI Margaret! I did cry the first time I found out the events that took place. These people just had so little hope. NOW! I don't know...I sure wish them the best...of course, it will be awful for a long time. BUT in the longrun? Gee. IF ONLY! They are brave, these protestors and rebels...and it's always some real NUT running these poor countrys. ANd you know, they could have it all. With their resources and beautiful lands. Well, we will see. Maybe not in our lifetimes tho...I do hope. Thank you for this lovely review for this my friend...xoxo, susan

This is a beautiful essay my friend. A sad story which might otherwise get buried under today's new is brought to life by your words. During the Vietnam war, buddhists also immolated themselves in a clearly-made decision to express their repugnance for the war in the giving of their lives. Those images on television may have helped turn the tide in the U.S. Perhaps the hero of your excellently written essay may offer the same catalyst. Warm regards for your brave loving gesture on behalf of the poor soul in Tunisia. Warm regards...Bev
